Holy shit dude have you ever heard of a fire ring? This is how forest fires happen. Please clear the grass away next time. The flames don't need direct contact to ignight

That brush and grass so close to the fire pit is a hazard!

The trick-or-treat was over, and the girls came back for toasted marshmallows and camping in the paddock behind the house while I had a quite homebrew

  • This is almost exactly how my neighbor burned down a big chunk of the forest behind my house last year

    For the naysayers:

    • We have just had ~20mm of rain for each of the last 2 days
    • The 'forest'? in the background is 2 trees and and a rose budh, then the berm and road
    • there is a hose (turned on) only 3m away
    • the fire was fully quenched before coming inside

That'll be core memories. But yes lower grass would probably be nicer. A few houses do the firepit in the frontyard with neighbors. Looks nice but people take that ( understandably) as an invitation to stop n stare which i dont like.
