Google took a search engine, filled it with ads, and then built an AI to summarize the ads so we wouldn’t have to scroll through them. Now it’s putting ads inside the summaries. At this point, the only thing AI Search is really optimizing is the distance between your question and Google’s quarterly earnings call.

They’ve successfully optimized my departure from their customer base, lmao

I still use Google because the ad-less AI search is decent and nested among other search functions (maps, shopping, videos, actual search results). If it is filled with ads, then I might just take 20 seconds out of my day and change the default address search provider.

Maps was the only thing keeping me around, and then they ruined Maps (presumably by attempting to optimize it with AI). It doesn’t work anymore.

I deleted it after being taken to the wrong address on several different occasions.

Try SearXNG, there’s no ads, no AI, and it works better than Google ever did.

The “actual search results” from google are mostly sponsored bullshit (ads).

People will always buy the things they need, advertising is about pushing the things they dont need. How have we got to the state where that is the actual business of most of the large technology research and development corporations.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I used Google search.

Though if I had to guess, it would be something around several years.
