You know, if i can setup btrfs from the graphical install that might be the better way to go. I could then make different sub-volumes for @home @nix , etc. If I really want the quotas that can be enforced on the sub volumes.

Thanks for the info. I was only going to seperate /home onto a different partition, but then I took a look at sudo du -hs /nix and saw it was 17GB by itself on my current laptop. I was aware of the gc daily thing since i have automatic updates enabled, but I was not aware of the other two storage optimization things.

I am a pretty standard desktop user, but i do need some dev tools like androidsdk, flutter, java, and rust.

It is. Only idiots leave their crypto on an exchange.

Exchanges are a lot like public toilets. You should go in, do your business, and get the fuck out. But a lot of people decide that they like the public toilet, and they'll just stick around and chat about the weather.

Bitcoin is far from untraceable. In fact, it's one of the most traceable currencies that's ever existed.

After all, you can see exactly what address sent exactly what amount to exactly what other address. All you have to do is compromise the addresses and then you know the people. And KYC from Exchanges does an incredibly good job at that.

I actually just bought a new laptop from the 2020 era to replace my laptop from the 2012 era. Going from an Intel Core i7 3rd generation up to an Intel Core i5 11th generation

I've been running Linux on it all this time and so it's been properly up to date with security fixes and stuff like that, but I'm using it for compiling software more now than I ever have in the past and the dual core 4 thread processor just isn't up to the task.

Hey guys, i could use some help.

I am trying to build cuprate: https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/ with the instructions found in https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/728/changes/48ee1bb9ed2dc3a0d7b53f66bb48f6273c964a26

It builds fine, but when attempting to run it i get

    [nix-shell:~/build/cuprate/cuprate/target/release]$ ./cuprated -h

./cuprated: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
