I live my life by one rule -- FOMO avoidance. tl;dr at bottom of post.

When I saw these on sale on Amazon in June 2026 for $6 each, I told myself it was a once-in-a-lifetime price and to buy 2 more than I might possibly ever need (to account for ±2 margin of error).

However, until 15 minutes ago -- it never dawned on me that these could ever be used for more than 2 things: to put on a barbell (including the 5 variants I know of: tricep bar, EZ-Bar, trap bar, safety squat bar, and deadlift bar) and to suspend via a pulley to allow cable exercises.

I had completely forgot about "Landmine" pivot apparatus even though there is one at my gym that I absolutely "knew" existed but for whatever reason escaped my awareness that it needn't be soldered to a gigantic metal structure (like at my gym) but can be made at home and can be "anchored" to the ground via a 62-pound kettlebell (which I happen to own) as demonstrated in this video:

That said, I have only been lifting for 3 years and only been lifting seriously since January 2026. In 2024 and 2025, I would do 1 or 2 sets everyday in the gym after my treadmill session because my goal was weight loss and I felt bad paying for a gym membership to only use the treadmill -- which thankfully my anti-FOMO mindset let me eventually discover my new favorite hobby which consumes more of my life than I'd care to truthfully admit. 😅

Lastly, since "landmine" technically is something you put the barbell into (rather than the plates) -- please tell me if there are other types of possible things I'm overlooking that are 1 abstraction away from standard gym equipment, thus escaping my immediate awareness.

My goal is strength/hypertrophy.

TL;DR: Other than landmine/pivot apparatuses, barbells, and pulley-to-cable configurations -- what other obvious (or not-so-obvious) use cases for my stack of bumper plates is my dumb brain forgetting?

just move them from one side of the room to the other every single day.

I store them under my bed and I like the challenge of neatly stacking/unstacking them without disturbing the alignment of plates below. I try to grab 2 at a time but hope to someday work up to 3 at a time (15 pounds each).

I carry them a lot because I can't do standing French presses indoors. I also awkwardly hold the EZ-Bar (loaded with 4 or 6 plates) in front of me, in vertical orientation to fit through doorways. I read somewhere that "farmer's carry" (especially with awkward objects like massive sandbags) build functional strength, stabilizer strength, and grip strength. I try to take advantage of that hidden feature every time I store or carry my weights. Because if not, then I'm leaving potential gains on the table... 💪

    Umbrella stand.

Great recommendation. I happen to live in Florida and visit Bradenton beach 2-3 times per year.

I can also use this for fishing and to stay in the shade. Umbrellas/stands are super cheap by comparison if I already own the weight plates and don't need to tie them down to anything.

If you get a belt that can hold them you could use for weighted pull ups. Or shove em in a backpack for rucking.
