Why do Democrats like Pete Buttigieg keep calling Israel our ally? Do mainstream Democrats really want to be associated with segregation, racism, apartheid and genocide? Why do they continue to defend Nazi Israel's actions?

I dont know, but it certainly shows that when the Dems finally do get the presidency back, they will do nothing to fix our Israel problem, our lack of medical care, our problems with the rich, or our Epstein/Mossad problem. All our spare money will go to wars and genocides in the middle east at Israel's orders.

You execute the people doing Nazi stuff, and forcibly implant a democratic government with a social safety program that pays reparation to the victims of the genocide in way that integrates them.

You don't over-Nazi the Nazis and go exterminating a population.

A consistent majority of Israeli polls show prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s current coalition bloc with the ultra-Orthodox and the far right will fall well below the threshold of 61 seats needed to form a government.

The opposition has a clear path to power through an alliance with parties representing Palestinian citizens of Israel, known as Arab parties inside the country.

Hopefully Netanyahu loses. I wonder how the hatemongers will react to a coalition that includes Arab parties governing Israel? Likely y'all will just start hating Arab Israelis too, hatred is just too addicting for anyone to kick the habit.

You are framing opposition to an apartheid regime responsible for genocide as rooted in irrational hatred and hate mongering. That's weird.

If somehow a coalition involving Arab parties end up in power, one should expect some concrete steps towards dismantling apartheid and holding genocide perpetrators accountable. That would be a fantastic set of steps. That's also extremely unlikely. If somehow some Arab Israeli politicians get coopted into a political arrangement that perpetuates the genocidal apartheid regime, then of course they would deserve all the scorn that would be coming their way. None of this is irrational hatemongering. It's politics around measurable outcomes.

That said, I find it highly unlikely that Arab Israeli parties will end up in any kind of stable government. It would be red meat for the far right and there seems to exist no political will in the Israeli electorate to seek any reasonable political resolution.

All I ever see is propaganda design to foment hatred of Israel which could lead to more violence. Do you think continuing a violent struggle against Israel is making the lives of Palestinians better?

A non-violent resistance movement would work. Violence obviously doesn't favour Palestinians.

A lot of words about destroying Israel, but they have have a lot of firepower that disagrees with your words. But on this site people continue to promote violence towards Israel, all too happy to throw away Palestinian lives purely for the sake of their addiction to hate. You are addicted to seeing images of dead Palestinians so you can get a rush from your daily two minutes of hate.

It's obvious to anyone that Israel will not be destroyed by violent acts. That only results in Palestinians dying. I want an end to this war and a Palestinian state living in peaceful co-existence with Israel. Do you want that, or do you want more Palestinians to die while pretending that if you just one more another generation of Palestinian as cannon fodder it will work? Truth and reconciliation is the actual pro-Palestinian stance, not pushing hatred of Israel that will just get more people killed and accomplish nothing.

A non-violent resistance movement would work.

You mean like when they had marches in 2018 to engage in non-violent protests, and the IDF snipers would deliberately shoot out their knees and target women and children? Israel has collectively abandoned civilization and opted for this might makes right strategy to begin with. Violence is the only means they seem to have of understanding the word "No," when they want to go steal some new houses or massacre another village.

So after the events of October 7, you're still dredging up old arguments about how putting up a fence to protect people from Hamas is wrong?

Sorry to break it to you, but the actions of Hamas kinda rendered a lot of your old propaganda arguments to be wrong. Open up Photoshop and make some new propaganda images, this is just being lazy.

Sorry, but your reply is just revealing your own racism against Palestinians, and your endless support for the Zionist project. You said they should choose non-violent protests, then when I point out non-violent protests they carried out in the past and got shot en masse for their troubles of nicely demanding that the Israelis take down the fences they put up to keep Palestinians from returning to land stolen from them, all of a sudden, you go, "Not like that, Oct 7th!1!1!" You can't have it both ways,

Hamas having any appeal at all in the region is a direct violence of Israeli aggression towards Palestinians over decades, Likewise, Netanyahu propped up Hamas with financing over years leading up to those attacks, to the tune of over $1 billion, pursuing the same sort of ultimately self-defeating strategy Hillary Clinton went with regarding Donald Trump, in 2016. Both thought they could easily control an adversary and manipulate them to incapacitate what they deemed as more serious opponents, only for it to blow up in their faces.

And then, when they got going and planned the attacks, Netanyahu was warned over a week in advance by the UAE, and did absolutely nothing with that information. This was not an unpredictable situation, it was exactly what Netanyahu wanted in order to justify putting off elections so he can avoid getting sent to prison when he no longer enjoys immunity in his criminal cases. Maybe he didn't think it was going to be quite that successful an attack, but he let this happen, from a monster of his own creation.

On top of that, I don't know about you, but if a neighboring country stole my family's land, shunted me off into a ghetto with the rest of my people (oh, the irony), laid out their plans for genocide and then were being told off by their people because they're doing the genocide too slowly for the tastes of the public, I'd be pretty indiscriminate with my retaliation against them too. Israel has already killed many more Palestinians in revenge than perished in the attacks on Oct 7th, and in a much more systematic and barbaric fashion. Over 70,000 Palestinians dead, by the IDF's own admission, not counting bodies still buried under rubble, in revenge for not even 1200 in the attack that sparked this war? Not even 2% of the death they've inflicted upon Palestinians, constantly attacking civilians, aid workers, journalists and other members of civil society.

You want to cry that the big bad Palestinians scare the Israelis with the meagre arms they manage to get into Palestinian territory, but there's no sympathy for Palestinian children being scared when Israel is dropping bombs on their schools or hospitals, nor their suffering when they're dying of malnutrition and starvation because Israel keeps doing their damndest to keep sufficient food from getting in. You see all the disproportionate atrocities the IDF has inflicted upon Palestinian civilians, and not only are you still defending these monsters, you want us to feel bad for them being scared of what retaliation their victims return upon them? You have some nerve to still be trotting out your "Oh, but the poor Israelis!" hasbara, and should be ashamed that you still do.

Israel is the aggressor in Palestine, just as they are in Iran. They stole land to begin with, with the help of the British, masters at doing exactly that in their own right. Since then, they have continued to steal land and brutalize the people, and now they're on to their plans to expand their borders clear across huge chunks of sovereign nations like Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran. They are a menace to the region, its security and that of the world, and they will fully deserve it when enough countries get tired of their BS and stop providing diplomatic cover and financial support to Israel, and Israel finds itself getting payback for all the atrocities they've committed when they need to stand on their own. Lucky us, though, your beloved lunatics will probably chuck out a couple of nukes to try and drag the rest of us down with them when Israel's karma finally catches up to it.

Being incapable off distinguishing between Hamas and Palestinians in general reveal your racism.

If you understood the distinction, your understanding someone can hate Hamas while still carrying about Palestinians.

In fact, how Hamas oppressed Palestinians is a big reason I'm so much against them. If you cared about Palestinians, you'd also hate how they prevent democracy and torture Palestinians that speak out against their oppression.

But you don't care about Palestinians, you're just here to push propaganda to further the interests of authoritarian regimes.

Says the fellow carrying water for the regime that kicked this all off nearly 80 years ago, and has never abandoned their ethnosupremacist ways. The very same regime that propped up Hamas in order to kneecap Fatah, because they believed they represented a more viable vehicle for ending the conflict with something other than complete surrender of Palestinian land.

Being incapable off distinguishing between Hamas and Palestinians in general reveal your racism.

I understand the difference perfectly well, unlike you, who literally pushes Israeli propaganda and reduced a fence set up to prevent Palestinians from justly and rightly returning to their stolen land to this, less than 24 hours ago:

how putting up a fence to protect people from Hamas is wrong?

You're the one seeing Hamas in every Palestinian here, buddy. It's like you're in charge of picking bombing targets for the IDF or something. I'm just saying I don't blame groups like Hamas for turning to violent means of preventing further Israeli encroachment on Palestinian territory, when Israel has shown at every opportunity that they will take advantage of non-violent protest and peaceful movements towards a democratic Palestine, discredit them and repay that non-violent approach with violence, including helping Hamas to establish control to begin with.

But you're not arguing earnestly or in good faith, anyway. If you were, you couldn't crying about Hamas attacks and oppression of Palestinians while still defending Israel, which has made disproportionate retaliation part of their military doctrine, decimated civilian infrastructure and continues to commit war crimes like using white phosphorus and deliberate starvation indiscriminately on the civilian population of Palestine. You really expect me to take you seriously about your concern for the oppression Hamas inflicts on Palestinians while you defend the state that has over 9.000 Palestinians in prisons, often on spurious pretexts, where sexual and physical abuse runs rampant, and they even set dogs on their prisoners to rape them? I would say don't make me laugh, but it seems more appropriate to ask that you not make me sick.

Also, curiously for the person crying propaganda while spreading unabashed Zionist propaganda, I noticed only one of us is actually citing sources for our claims. But, hey, you're also the one who dismissed UN published images from their investigation into Israeli crimes against humanity during the 2018 protests to mere photoshop produced propaganda, so I'm not sure what else I could expect from you when you already show your true colors in your posting so blatantly.

Says the fellow carrying water for the regime that kicked this all off nearly 80 years ago

How old do you think I am?

It is a distinctly fascist trope to use history books as a justification for present day violence and authoritarian rule. There are right now Russians dying in Ukraine to restore a Soviet Empire that never existed in their lifetime.

Do you think the ethnic makeup of a region should be restored to how it was before any of us was born? I think if a person was born in a place they have a right to continue to live there. More than 80% of of Israelis were born in Israel. So they have a right to live there, no matter what happened in the past. Thinking a baby should be judged for events of 100 years ago is why atrocities like October 7 occur.

Hamas has very fascistic blood and soil style beliefs where their ethnicity is entitled to remove people of other ethnicities from a region because the history books say they weren't there a hundred years ago or whatever. They coat this with a thin veneer of religion (as fascists often do) but at the heart of Hamas is a fascist ideology.

We're seeing these fascist beliefs spread into the west. It's an odd thing where people claim to be leftist but support a fascist organization in another part of the world. This puts into question whether leftism in the west is actually leftism, or just fascists in socialist clothing. It's fairly common in history for fascists to claim to be socialists. See National Socialism or present day China for examples.

But you’re not arguing earnestly or in good faith, anyway. If you were, you couldn’t crying about Hamas attacks and oppression of Palestinians while still defending Israel

You can't be crying about fascism while defending Hamas. Hamas is fascist, considering Hamas and Palestinians to be one and the same (which is something Netanyahu often does too BTW) is legitimizing fascism. I actually support Palestinians, but I see Hamas as a cancer, the same way I see all fascist movements. You're trying to spread the cancer, which is obviously harmful to Palestinians. I want both Netanyahu and Hamas gone. Because they both have fascistic character and neither respect the right of people to live where they were born.

After October 7 it will be at least a decade before Israel can come out of bunker mentality. You might be ignoring how horrific the actions of Hamas were on that day. I admit I couldn't get though all of the horrific things they did that day, it was insane. But Israelis are well aware of what happened. Having millions of people typing on the internet sympathizing with Hamas probably doesn't help in getting them out of the bunker mentality. We're still a long way from the truth and reconciliation that's needed, but any step in that direction (even a baby step) is something that should be welcomed.

I don't want to see another Gaza war in a decade or two. We've already seen how that works out, it doesn't go well for anyone, especially for Palestinians. But on the internet it's just a constant thirst for more violence, as long as it's someone other than the person posting the comments that's going to die because of it.

Social media is all emotional manipulation all the time. Are you capable of thinking of the Gaza war in rational terms or only in emotional terms? Why is it you can only think of it as an emotional issue?

The social media algorithms send you a constant stream of content that keeps you emotional all the time. They aren't trying to inform you of anything, they want to keep you emotional so you'll keep on doomscrolling so they can keep on showing you ads.

You'll never know what's happening in a conflict on the other side of the world. You'll only get curated emotional content. That doesn't result in any kind of understanding.

Constantly consuming this kind of content will turn you into a hateful person. The tech bros don't care, as long as you keep consuming, they keep making money.

So basically, it sounds to me like we have a country so far gone that genocide seems like the right thing to do, and children are growing up indoctrinated to believe this.

The centrist "keep things as they are and don't genocide" party (which doesn't even advocate for a 2 state solution) is viewed as a fringe left wing group, and are attacked frequently with no protection from the state.

Sounds a lot like Nazi Germany and Hitlers Youth to me. Unlike that, it may have a semblance of democracy, but the voter base is so far gone that it pretty much cannot be saved from the inside.

to add to this, I was reading this article this morning

Benjamin Netanyahu has led Israel into a trap in which ever-increasing strategic commitments are outstripping the productive base that finances them, and the goodwill on which its alliances depend is being destroyed. While a new government would not transform Israeli foreign policy, it could begin to drag Israel out of its morass.

The opposition parties are united by a few objectives. They want to hold Netanyahu accountable for the security failures that made the October 7 attack possible and for the conduct of the war in Gaza. They want to halt his anti-democratic judicial reforms. And they want to force the large ultra-Orthodox community—a key partner in Netanyahu’s governments—to share the burden of military service (from which they are exempt) and to participate in the labor market (instead of living on government subsidies). This platform is unlikely to attract a clear majority. Instead, polls now point to a tie between the two major blocs.
