To have any voice command it has to listen all the time. Unless voice commands are enabled with a physical switch.

Its just crazy that there are still people that don't realize this is exactly what's going to happen when you use this stuff from these sorry corporations, google, amazon, meta, microsoft, etc etc. Stop using this shit!

Boo fucking hoo, whoever buys these absolutely deserves every invasion of their own privacy for the harm they cause to the privacy of others.

I'm sorry, how are the glasses supposed to react to "Hey Meta" if they are not listening the entire time? Did people get so stupid in the meantime?

I remember either Google or Amazon explaining that the delay between the "hey" and the "ready" is the entire OS booting up. Like, there's a separate super-low-power chip that will only respond to "hey" whilst in standby. When it detects the keyword, the rest of the device comes to life.

I'm not sure if they were telling the truth, but it's plausible. The truth is always in the network payload.

Yes any smart device with a microphone does this and they keep a protocol of everything stored on the device even in offline mode so they can upload it as soon as they are connected. Even if you never connect to the internet authorities can easily extract the protocol from the device if they get their hands on it. Those are months of conversations that you don‘t even remember.

And someone somewhere has to replay your gibberish mumbles over and over until they understand it to train the AI

My wife asked me why I carry a gun around the house. I said, ‘Decepticons.’ We laughed, the toaster laughed. I shot the toaster. Good times.

duh, unless you 'ask' them by pressing a button they have to be continuously listening to hear the 'hey zuckbot' or whatever phrase they use.

The whole 'hey siri/hey google/hey online bookshop/etc' voice activation thing needs to go. If you want to put it in your own house with a 'smart' speaker, that's your choice but it shouldn't be on phones/tablets/glasses/etc where it can be used to eavesdrop.
