The measure would require students who want to join a girls’ sports team to undergo sex verification, either through a genital exam, a chromosome test, or a hormone test. This would be a departure from current state policy, which lets kids play on teams that align with their gender identity.

    Get the word out

But voters are far less likely to support the initiative when they have a more in-depth understanding of how it would work, Villeneuve said. Once they found out that genital exams could be required of all girls, for example, they were less likely to support the initiative, he said.

I'm worried about it for sure. However, it looks like this article is using Brian Heywood's local polling, not someone impartial or vetted in any way:

Polling conducted by Let’s Go Washington shows its initiative passing in November, with 56% of the vote in favor of banning trans girls from girls’ sports. That data, which has yet to be released publicly, shows approval from 73% of Republicans, 48% of Democrats, and 52% of Independents. Let's Go Washington said it queried 7,500 people for the poll.

I don't trust anything Brian Heywood says.

This is what happens when there are no important issues. Remember when there was no health care, inflation problems, scandals, pedophiles, war, racism, killings by ICE, and all the other stuff that we worried about 'back in the day'?

    JFC.

The reason it was chosen was how unaffordable college is and how most poor people's only real shot is athletic scholarships, which is the equivalent to voting for billionaires because some day you may win 20 lotteries and be one.

If every time they brought it up, Dems said they think everyone should have a shot at college and unpaid school athletes should only play for the love of the game...

It takes all the wind out of their sails.

They stop caring about that narrow 0.0001% of student athletes who are trans, and start asking why all the kids from their community don't default to having a shot at higher education.

Hell, you can even pivot to how the wealthy who can afford private school are the real unfair advantage for athletic scholarships. Scouts will never visit the vast amount of small rural areas, regardless of what kind of genetic freak is playing.

People need to stop letting conservatives always pick the topic.

No matter what they pick, steer it back to wealth inequality

For a candidate who isn't afraid to say with their whole chest that trans women are women and trans men are men, it's an easy pivot to so many issues that poll well for Dems. You want to keep trans women out of pro women's sports? Trans women are women and it doesn't matter if no-one can afford to go to games. You want genital inspections for high school sports? Trans men are men and Republicans are pedophiles. You want hormone testing as part of sports eligibility? Trans people belong and people should be have access to the hormonal testing their doctors deem necessary. The only reason this is perceived as a wedge issue that's taking the air out of the room is that Dems are spending their news cycles debating whether we should support the most vulnerable members of our coalition instead of saying "yeah we support trans people and we expect people to take that into account when they're voting, so let's talk about Republican support for the Epstein class."

I find that often it's just the neoliberala doing it that way...

saying “yeah we support trans people and we expect people to take that into account when they’re voting, so let’s talk about Republican support for the Epstein class.”

While progressive do more of that, but pivoting more to issues they can directly address to benefit voters.

But just in general, we can't treat all Dems the same, when it's really turned into a catch all term for non-fascists.

What Pelosi does shouldn't effect people's opinion of Mamdani. Which people get on an individual level but start talking about 250 (ish?) elected representatives and a lot of people default to judging them all by the letter by the name.

Anyways, the neoliberala love these culture wars, because the same billionaires who pay Republicans pay them. It's a distraction from economic policy their billionaires do care about.

So definitely feel free to criticize them, just please specify the faction actually doing it, and it wouldn't hurt to mention they lost the DNC in February of 2025.
