Another drop in the ocean of 4th Amendment violations.

“For operational security reasons, we do not discuss specific analytical methods, data sources, targeting criteria, investigative techniques, system capabilities, or deployment details. Public disclosure of such information could compromise law enforcement operations and investigations as well as creating safety risks for agents and the public,” the statement added.

If we tell you all the illegal shit we're doing then we won't be able to do it anymore

So...they are arresting people for their "potential" to commit a crime.

Well...I'm old now and I don't have much "potential" left in me. They should have arrested me when I had my MOST potential, just before I was circumcised. THAT's when it all started.

It's called the Department of PreCrime. Here's a leaked photo of their state of the art predictive facility.

local authorities stopped him under the pretense of an obstructed license plate and charged him with a DUI.

Yeah cops will just make up anything if they really want to pull you over.

They often don't have to. There was a quote that I'm currently unable to find that is paraphrased 'If I want to pull someone over, I just follow them for 5 minutes, they're guaranteed to break a law at some point' Stuff like failing to properly signal, speeding, going too slow, rolling stop at an intersection, etc. Hell, if they follow you in the passing lane for a couple of minutes they can get you for not yielding the lane.

You don't think you'll look like an outlier if you have way less purchasing history on record than most people with your income? I'd think those would be the first people they'd go for.

Exactly. They're looking for people carrying cash or goods they can steal.

Why bully people for fun when they can bully people for fun and profit?

That is often quite true. Never tell the police of cash you have, never keep it where they can find it.

People have been robbed by the police while holding and presenting a bank receipt for pulling that money out for a legitimate purpose.

On the other hand, the swells can shut your entire bank account down under some pretense and there is nothing you can do about it.

I lean towards cash being the better bet at this point, but you need a mix.

See why they're trying so hard to make cash difficult to use now?

I think we all kinda knew DHS wouldn't be able to fully utilize such a massive budget increase via staffing expenses. This is what it will be predominantly used for: Settling civil rights lawsuits.

A system that allows money to make up for rights being stolen is one in which those who need money are silent and those who don't are heard.

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

Policing that amounts to creating criminals is itself criminal in nature. Giving over discernment to a black box that cannot be predicted or replicated is like using a uncalibratable tool, useless.

This should be rejected outright and those involved and those who developed, and those who signed off should face the punishment they wish to inflict on others.

Another one of those "someone created some art to warn about some potential bad future" "got it, let's follow those instructions".

Minority report still a great movie.

Ah, yes. Precrime. Something the dangers of which have famously never been featured in any sort of story.
