I don't think the people who've been in charge of protecting us from fascism for the past ten years should be in charge of protecting us from fascism any more.

Fair, very true, but a small semantics issue: the DNC haven't been in charge of anything for over a decade. They've had 48 or less senate seats every year since the 2014 elections.

Those chaps are a symptom, this is the cause. Still get rid of them though - I'm not saying there are any babies in this bathwater.

I can't believe how much damage they've managed to do for what is, subjectively to them, so little money. This is like me and my coworkers managing to scrape together $10k between us.

just what's the point of voting for them?

It can feel futile. Especially as I'm voting from abroad, and my vote goes to a "blue stronghold" state, so I've never once affected national politics meaningfully and maybe never will. I try to make up for it by bothering my elected officials and telling them not to support Jeffries or Schumer, and to stop the genocide, lock up pedophiles, etc.

I have found that being part of a political group helps chase away feelings of being useless. Seeing and talking with DSA folks who also want change and working together with them helps remind me that I am not alone in my desire to change my community for the better.

What you are doing does matter; you and I were drops in the blue wave and I hope more people join us.

why not get involved in actuall-useful politics that doesn't rely on an ablative layer of corrupt aristocratic lawyers and poisoned-well bureaucracy to insulate the powerful from the will of the people and consequences of their mass child rape actions?

After 2010 they gained 58 seats for about a month in session and used that time to pass Medicaid expansions which 70+ Million Americans rely upon for healthcare, as well as a publicly operated marketplace and tax credits for cheaper healthcare.

If they had 60 seats it would have been Public Option identical to Germany's healthcare, but we had a lone independent holdout Joe Lieberman.

so they couldn't even pass a Republican policy when they had a majority.

Democrats had 50 seats under Biden. Kamala broke a record for number of tire breaker votes because of it. That was only 2 years ago.

    Wtf are you talking about

Jeffries and Schumer pictured above aren't working for AIPAC, yet. They're minority speakers for the DNC House and Senate, respectively.
