Pizza is stupid cheap to make at home. Domino's is currently offering Minecraft pizzas that are less than twice the size for more than twice the cost. But making it at home means no grease soaked collectable box.

Cost per person before toppings: $2.77 It is very hard to fit even a dollar worth of toppings on a pizza.

Do you buy the bread(already made dough)? Or do you make the dough at home? I cook three meals a day (middle Eastern food), but never tried making pizza at home to be honest. I’m now intrigued. Do share your secrets, please.

I make two kinds of pizza dough. If I'm making bread that week I'll make enough dough for pizza and let it age in the fridge for days to days and days.

I start with 360 grams of flour, a tsp of salt, a tsp of sugar, 1 tsp each of oregano and basil in the dry mix. I add 295 grams of water with 1 tsp sugar and 7 grams of yeast that had been bloomed.

I add flour as needed during the 8 minute knead. Maybe as much as 120 grams. Maybe half that.

This is two pizzas worth of dough.

Rise once, shape to pan with oil, butter, corn flour, semolina or parchment paper between it and the pan. Toss a cast iron pan on the bottom rack of the oven. Crank the oven to 450 or 500 f. Assemble the pizza and bake it for ... Until it's done. Depending on thickness this might be 10 to 30 minutes.

Sure you can buy the dough. But honestly that's a waste of money. Pizza dough I'd literally 4 ingredients - flour, water, oil, salt. That's it. (Unless you want a thick crust, in which case you add yeast)

So just a normal bread. I’m sorry if these are dumb questions, but I’ve never really made a pizza. lol. Do you ferment yours, or just make the dough and go to town?

Pizza dough is risen like bread, preferably longer than most breads. I do mine in the fridge for a couple of days. It is bread, just with stronger (gluteny) flour, pulled flat, and cooked very hot. It also usually has a little more oil than a typical loaf bread. Most bready products are variations of those ingredients with different techniques and 1-2 additions/subtractions.
