Yeah, absolutely. No hack is going to patch the actual executive dysfunction, and it probably only worked for those people temporarily, because doing a new system, provokes that sweet sweet novelty dopamine. So on face value it seems like a good tip, and it might work for a time.
Then you have to decide, is this the system I want to stick to after the dopamine has deserted me. If yes, then you have to build a system of a thousand pulleys and wenches to keep it going. Either find a way to keep injecting the novelty dopamine, by being able to switch it up. Or strap it down and tape it's eyes open with alarms. But then also you gotta think about the cost to your nervous system if you keep sending it into debt via cortisol overexposure (alarms).
I feel like it's more about breaking everything down into the smallest part.
What are you trying to achieve / defeat?
I have combined ADHD, and it absolutely kicks my ass every second of every day.
I dug right down to the foundations, to try and make effective changes. For my whole life I motivated by cortisol and adrenaline and low and behold hit 40 and I've built myself a nice little nest of fibromyalgia out of all that nervous system assaulting.
So in trying to lessen my fibromyalgia symptoms I need to lower my cortisol and adrenaline. (Which is a slightly longer quest than that spunds).
In lowering those, I notice a knock on of lowering my attention woes and foibles. And that's true for neurotypical brains too, stress reduces your hippocampus functionality, and causes some pretty huge damage to that poor little monkey with cymbals.
