I say this as someone who has very little faith in people and even less in Democrats. I'm reserving judgement, because I remember waking up excited for the future after Obama was elected in 2008 and then his decision to govern as a black George W. Bush as well as his laying the foundation for future fascist descent.
There are some reasons to be optimistic.
LA, Chicago, Portland, and Minneapolis laid down the playbook for opposing fascism in the US, and while it wasn't without a few casualties, it was without mass casualties and an invocation of the Insurrection Act. It was also largely peaceful.
Flock has lost 500 contracts since June, and the vast majority of that was otherwise apolitical people getting active in city and county council meetings. Their finances have been hit so hard they've been forced to restructure their company financially.
Most importantly, actual socialists were elected, and the importance of that can't be overstated. It would have been impossible just two years ago.
The overwhelming likelihood is we get nothing but excuses for the next two years, but there are at least a few reasons to think maybe a small measure of good is possible at the federal level. That said, again, I am a mostly hopeless person who expects Democrats to make excuses and do nothing meaningful.
