[–] paddythegeek@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago (17 children) I’m new. Why do we not like Omarchy? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 17 child comments replies: [–] randomname01@feddit.nl 65 points 2 days ago (2 children) It’s headed by a racist, and a suspicious amount of money has been flooding into the project for no discernible reason other than his questionable politics. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] BlindPenguin@piefed.social 21 points 2 days ago And it's essentially just preconfigured Arch Linux for people with the attention span of a grapefruit, but who think that they'll impress anyone by installing this nonsense, instead of just going for some standard distro and throwing a random tiling wm onto it... permalink fedilink source parent [–] paddythegeek@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago Ah, thanks for the heads-up. permalink fedilink source parent [–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 days ago (1 child) Omarchy itself vibe coded. It integrates all sorts of Ai and LLM into the system for easy use, and to analyze the system with Ai. The slogan was or is "it's for LLM agents". Big Ai supportive companies give this organization millions of money. So all in all, this is a slop distribution, by slop developers, for slop users. As a result the operating system is very unsecure and had lot of issues. Issues that should never be, like default configurations that exposes for no reasons. And it's not like only haters say this, even the developer DHH itself acknowledge this and says it will be better in future. He directly accepts these critics in interviews. As if in if he accepts it it becomes acceptable? Then the lead developer is DHH, who is very disliked for his unhuman opinions. And we are talking about serious topics here, not a little offtopic joke. Just to add to the fuel. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] moth@anarchist.nexus 9 points 2 days ago the vibe coded part is is pretty unimportant. if it was just a vibe coded distro, it would be quickly forgotten by most Linux users except in memes, and the only people who would use it are the AI tech bro influencers and their vapid followers. the real issue here is the insane amounts of money many corporations are giving someone who consistently voices racist theories on his blog. permalink fedilink source parent [–] shrek_is_love@lemmy.ml 25 points 2 days ago (11 children) There's a whole ass-website that explains why: https://stopomarchy.org/ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 11 child comments replies: [–] sukhmel@programming.dev 1 point 2 days ago If Alibaba is not there as part of a governmental bid to destabilise the US, I don't even understand what do they do it for permalink fedilink source parent [–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 1 point 2 days ago (9 children) I would spread this website too, if it was written more seriously and without cheeky style.
