Reddit users are called Redditors. What are Lemmy users called? Lemmitors? Lemmings?

How well are the Lemmy fediverses growing? How many daily unique users do we have on this service? Will we overtake Reddit someday?

What differences should I get used to over here from what I was used to on Reddit? Thanks in advance.

Every community that is hosted on .ml or lemmygrad (the community name will be something like politics@lemmy.ml) is tankie oriented. The easiest solution is to block those instances (the 3 common ones to block are lemmy.ml, lemmygrad.ml, and hexbear.net) in your settings. You'll have a much more pleasant experience.

Thank you so much, I just did. Will this block their users or the communities they host too?

Assuming you're on lemmy, it will only block the communities hosted on the instance, which is pretty equivalent to the communities the users mod. It will not stop you from seeing posts and comments by those users in other communities on other instances. That's generally fine though, they're usually a lot less aggravating outside their native environment (mostly because if they say stupid things they get shouted and downvoted down to hell).

I sure hope this turns things around for me. Ive been really down about the atmosphere here and didnt want to redownload reddit.

Thanks for spending all the time it took to write all this out.

  • You're welcome!

It will also help greatly to curate your feed. I assume you currently browse /all. Start subscribing to the communities you like, and in a few weeks you can start browsing /subscribed instead, just hitting /all when you run out of content or are looking for new stuff.

Additionally, don't be shy with the block community button. Block the comms that you have no interest in even if you don't dislike them. Nobody's getting hurt feelings over it.
