Did anyone go to one of the protests? I totally forgot as I WFH and don't live in Vic. Would be cool to see horse racing ended.

It was high school and also my pop that introduced gambling to me. At school they had that hat draw thing where everyone puts money in and draws a name out of a hat. I'd never heard of it before but all the other kids seemed to know about it. I had two home room groups for some reason and in both groups I drew Lets Elope. When pop called that evening he asked if he could put a bet on for me, which he'd never done before. I only knew there was Lets Elope so I said that.

So after those small wins pop invited me to a couple of races. I really didn't understand the appeal but my aunties, uncles and cousins were talking about how they went all the time.

One day I visited some of those cousins after we had all grown up. Someone suggested going out for a drink, great idea. But we ended up at a club, not a bar or hotel, and they all proceed to head to the pokies and start throwing their money away. I really didn't understand what the fuck was going on. So I just waited for them to finish giving away their money on the pokies before we all went back to their place.

My cousin's all turned out mostly fine, but it was really weird watching them give money away to a machie like that.
