I'd been trying on and off to figure out docker, finally I have the stack running on an old thinkpad x1 carbon ultrapad. It is so nice to be getting the work of torrenting, organizing, and streaming to jellyfin mostly automated. Sonarr is really impressive too for current shows

I've been curious about it but never tried setting it up.

What does it do over a jfin + qbt set up?

With Sonarr and Radarr, the whole searching and downloading is abstracted away. Sonarr is basically magic. You select a series, give it a minimum quality profile, and it will automatically download new episodes. I get notifications throughout the week from Plex of new media added to my library. It’s a beautiful thing. Servarr is your friend. This was a good excuse for me to learn about docker and containers in general.

One big bonus for me is the automatic hardlinking from the downloaded torrent to an organized library, and that it makes it easy to reorganize it. Some torrents have episodes in a different order than Jellyfin recognizes, or names are ambigious, but now I can easily curate a library that explicitly tells Jellyfin what's what, while keeping the originals intact so I can seed them indefinetly.

I can sit on the couch in front of my tv and pick a movie for download on my phone, or check if the next episode of something has been automatically downloaded yet. I think that sonar does a pretty good job of TV series management, like I don't want to download all of Doctor Who because I'm only on season 3 on a rewatch right now. All I needed to do is add the series and deselect the ones I don't want currently, bam I have it on Jelly fin

Also I was able to take a drive with two terabytes of stuff I've already organized myself and import that as an existing Library using Sonar and radar Charlotte
