Chinese Police had increased pressure on the festival through repeated phone calls in recent weeks, it is understood.

Beijing Independent film festival, China’s most prominent independent film festival, was closed down in 2014 after the authorities detained the founders and shut off the electricity supply to the venue. Is there any other literature on China’s stance on LGBTQ rights? I’m genuinely trying to learn and it feels like from what I’ve been reading they are pretty much on par with the US (maybe slightly worse)

they are pretty conservative, of course they used to execute lgbtq+, but stoppeda while ago. the ones that immigrated to the US, still holds those same value, they believe its wrong. am from an asian family. same goes for most of asia, but not first generation descent. china is already pretty anti-immigration, they dont actually immigrate people that much to country very low like less than 20k on average per year, plus you have to denounce your citizenship of the country you were born from first.
