• EU-Australia FTA will remove 5.5% critical minerals tariff
  • Agreement expected to be signed early next year
  • Australia, EIB 'very close' to MOU for funding arm
  • Looking initially at rare earths, gallium, antimony

The European โ€‹Union expects a wave of investment into the Australian critical minerals sector as it โ€Œpushes to diversify its supply chain away from China, the bloc's ambassador to Australia Lawrence Meredith said on Tuesday.

Australia and the European Union struck a free trade agreement in March after eight years of negotiations, removing tariffs on almost all goods โ€‹and easing EU access to Australian critical minerals.

...

"It is going to be a game changer," Meredith said.

In parallel, talks are "very close" for Australia to โ€‹sign a memorandum of understanding with the European Investment Bank, which would act as the bloc's funding โ€‹vehicle, Meredith added.

"The European Union will be massively investing in critical minerals. Since we wish to diversify away from China, then one of the most likely partners has to be Australia," he said.

EU policy proposals have laid out as much โ€‹as โ‚ฌ10 billion ($11.2 billion) for critical raw materials within the larger โ‚ฌ409 billion competitiveness fund, as the EU debates its โ€‹budget from 2028 to 2034. Australia is one of several critical minerals "superpowers" in which the EU is looking to invest, โ€Œincluding Brazil, โ South Africa and Canada. The EU also expects to invest along the supply chain, including in processing, Meredith said.

Not if one nation gains power. One of them even told me to read a book in wokism... Which was written by a MAGA senator (I suspect they knew that immediately, but figured I'd be too dumb to know who they were)

    Yeah. Highly doubtful

In Vic , they won 2% in one house, 0.2% in the other

They were beaten even by the legalize marijuana party.

The only thing that's changed is that they're saying they're going to win now

They're the new palmer United party

Iโ€™m assuming you mean their last election, because this one is on the 28th November

I wouldnโ€™t use it as a benchmark, a significant amount has changed since then.

Personally, unless something quite dramatic happens think itโ€™s now a question between the two conservative groups who governs, because Labor arenโ€™t winning it, unless they get through in the backs of the Greens.

Remember Palmer United Party? Nobody does lol

If you check the ONP Facebook pages, there is DEFINITELY a lot of bot activity. . Gina also bought some media networks since then (and, shortly before, thats when you could tell the advertising suddenly changed)

    I wouldn't count on it.

What are you talking about? Which nation? Gaining power where, over who? Why did a nation tell you to read a book?

  • Man... I'm not a grammar nazi but goddamn I sometimes wish people would have proper grammar. If the other guy had said "Not if One Nation gains power..." I'd have right away realised they are talking about a group or a party and not thought that they are talking about this random nation that will gain world dominance.

Though I suspect me being a non-native English speaker might have affected things a bit.
