Most of the lyrics are nonsensical glossolalia.

The song wasn't released on any studio album, to my knowledge.

Songs From The Victorious City - I remember this one, this is nice. i'll have to add this to my collection
Muslimgauze and Alek Lee delve more into electronic, not bad a thing but maybe for another time.

I know Awesome Tapes From Africa, maybe like most I got them through Bandcamp, like Habibi Funk.

I think most is likewise rather modern West-influenced sub-Saharan

I don't think you're wrong, I'm sure it's influenced by western ears.

north African blues
That sounds interesting, I’d appreciate some posts or just a dump of links/names on this topic.

Tinariwen is the band most other musicians reference
Imarhan, I was very fortunate to see them live this year
Songhoy Blues Bombino
Etran de L'Aïr
Mdou Moctar

Not related, but I bought this album recently and think that it might fit into this - Ranjah

    Thanks for the recommendations!

I finally looked through my notes, and didn't find much more that I could add, but perhaps try also Yazz Ahmed's ‘A Paradise in the Hold’ — which is jazz with Arabic influences; and Aksak Maboul's ‘Saure Gurke’ — on the electronic side. Margenrot's ‘Obkhod’ also has some Arabic-style percussion, reminiscent of Muslimgauze, but is generally a quite puzzling mix of post-industrial, post-punk and a bit of minimal music.
