I get the meme but...

The matrix itself is set in 1999 because that's considered by the machines to be the peak of human civilization. That's why there's payphones.

They're not replacing payphones because they're taking away you ability to escape. This is the real world before the machines take over. We're not in the matrix. We're pre-war with the machines.

Looking forward to scorching the sky though lol.

Based on all the YouTube videos about quantum physics I watch to fall asleep - I think we are already in the matrix.

I mean holy fuck - you guys even understand quantum entanglement ? And that state of entangled particles change instantaneously galaxies apart? And that particle time travel experient. "Spooky action at the distance" and the fact Einstein was wrong about quantum - he argued against it. Spooked him too.

It's not like you twist particle A and its entangled pair particle B suddenly twists in the same way. IF you look at the statistics, that's actually forbidden, due to something called the no-communication theorem. Rather, what the statistics show is that if you twist particle A, then the precise way that A changes depends upon the current state of B. So B isn't affected. There is a non-local "influence" but it's not quite so dramatic and is more subtle.

As for Einstein, I think he was extremely underappreciated. He basically solved all the "weirdness" of quantum mechanics and explained how it can be understood intuitively without all the bizarre claims like cats dead and alive at the same time, collapsing wavefunctions, etc.

Einstein just made a blunder that he thought non-locality wasn't real either, and he turned out to be wrong, and so now people ignore everything he said on the subject and assume all the wacko crazy interpretations of quantum mechanics must be necessary now because Einstein must've been wrong about everything, and so the interpretations on the subject have veered off into la la land.

I don't think quantum non-locality is even that "spooky." Newtonian mechanics is clearly an action-at-a-distance theory. It's clearly non-local. Of course, we know Newtonian mechanics is wrong in this and gravity is local, but that's not my point, my point is that humans were fine with non-locality in physics for centuries and no one says Newtonian mechanics is incredibly counterintuitive and so we need to believe in bizarre claims like cats being alive and dead at the same time to get around it.

Locality is a pretty recent addition to physics. It is not even the "intuitive" idea because locality is insanely counterintuitive if you think about it. Do you really think the block universe is not spooky? Or that there is no universal "now"? Locality is far more spooky.
