Yes...ish. Part of the problem is the culture, at least in much of the English speaking world, was moved toward consumerism, where it's moral or amoral to identify with your purchases. In order to shift away from that culture you have to convince people what they have been doing has been immoral, which is nigh impossible with most people. Most people don't want to admit they are monsters, and will hate you for making them even consider how their actions might be less than completely righteous and justified.

I am very sorry to tell you but no, people will not stop contributing once they know.

1. People don't really care about anything not effecting them directly and immidiatly. Thats just the truth look around.
2. Don't tell your neighbors to change, they will react hostile and you will probably drive them away further. ALWAYS talk about how these companies are mistreating THEM.

Personal responsibility is a brainwashing tactic from big corp to blame yourself and your neighbour for systematic Problems they created. Don't fall for it.
