Doesn't need to be confiscated. Just stop sales and the number goes down over time.

And before you start, you don't have to stop all sales. We can start with the ones that have potential to kill the most.

    Firearms are known to last over a hundred years and can be rebuilt, they don’t just magically go away when sales stop.

    And as I mentioned in another comment, In the United States firearms don’t have to be registered, as far as I know this applies federally this may differ per state, how do you plan to track something with no traceability?

    We are in agreement. If someone wants to buy a firearm in the US there are many ways they can do so to skirt government oversight.

    But it would still good true that if you ban the sale of certain firearms, the number of people that own said type of firearm will go down over time. Simply introducing a barrier of entry is enough to deter at least some people from buying that specific firearm.

    That to me is fine. I don't think we should overspend our resources trying to do this. Just start with the low hanging fruit with the highest roi.
