anything sharp enough to damage the dishwasher bins or a person should be hand washed. unless you're running a food service operation and have to use the dishwasher (the appliance).

    I am pleased to tell you that I have successfully hurt my finger by accidentally grabbing a children's fork too fast (and miscalculated it's length). It hurt and bled.

    I'm sure I could do the same with a spoon of I tried hard enough (:
