Have you never heard of a simile? There is a difference between it and a strawman. I'm specifically creating a comparison that shares the same logic as that of people who vote against their own interests yet don't realize they suffer directly from their actions only to blame their party's political opponents.

Those people exist, it makes up a large part of the right wing voting base.
