I feel I could literally die from the shock and then have to live in a nightmare of constantly checking myself for injuries if I survived. Pain sucks but it's a useful survival tool and would rather deal with it throughout life.

If I still get the response of pain down the line (not being able to rest my hand on a hot stove) I’d consider it. To quote Matt Damon in Elysium, “This ain’t gonna kill me.”

On the other hand, sometimes I like to feel a bit of pain given the right, uh, circumstances.

I think it's always better to like more things in general, right? If I could like more things, I would.

In practice though, I seem to end up more often on the "hate something a lot of people like" side.

Well right now I'm an idiot on a team of even bigger idiots, which is pretty close to the 2nd option. It might be fun to see what it's like to be around actual competence for a change, so I'll go with #1.

A village surrounded by hinterland seems promising, actually. I just set off in a direction for a while, and pick a slightly different one every hour or so. Assuming MJ lacks tracking skills, that seems at least as promising as being under a stack of stuffies in a mall.

If they weren't dancers in their physical prime, I'd have a good chance of outpacing them, and then it would basically be a guaranteed victory. Ditto if we all end up on vehicles.

If I have to stay in the village, well, the mall's probably bigger, so obviously that.
