In the embrace part of the cycle, it seems. Not sure they even know how to "extend" anymore.

Ew
What we wanted : Winamp
What we got :
Looks vibecoded. I'm surprised there is not a single mention of the word "agentic" in the article. Is Microsoft ok?
microslop - untrustworthy
windows - spyware
Xbox - never ending subscriptions and increasing costs riddled with ads
sorry what...
The windows permission system is such a shitshow it's notveven funny anymore.
It's just broken IMO.
It's because of top down management dictating that all departments:
- Must achieve 30% profit growth each financial year (prioritising higher short term profits to the detriment of long-term product viability)
- Must place AI in as many places as possible to puff up usage numbers to justify the ridiculous amount of investor money they've spent on it in the past.
People: If it ain't broke, then don't fix it
Microsoft: if everyone is happy with it, then break/change it
To add to that, every win11 pc I interact with takes a good 1-1000 2-1000 for the right click menu to actually show up.
It’s genuinely insane how often they insist on reinventing everything.
Literally every time, they insist on changing nothing but rearranging things.
What a shitshow.
They keep moving shit around
Yep, this was the one that still annoys me the most (2 menus within the same menu - the usual vertical one, and another, horizontal, one, down after "more options". "Where's the cut option?? .... Oh, it's DOWN THERE now! 🤬")

The whole thing is a cluster fuck. I don’t understand how they keep making it worse. It’s still a crapshoot clicking whether or not your app is in search or start or neither.
They keep moving shit around, after spending billions on usability studies for winxp, and I assume the subsequent releases. Imagine if your car swapped the brake and throttle pedals, or just replaced them with a sequence of buttons on the dashboard. It's monumentally stupid.
Instead of squabbling and giving bullshit responses, you could have contributed something useful
I told you the answers are in the blog post, which you could've just read to begin with, instead of bothering people with irrelevant comments, but here you are yet again, commenting instead of reading the post.

I’m not sure why you can’t answer these elemental questions I’m not going to go look at your post when you can’t answer a simple question
It's not my post, and if you had looked at it then you would know that, as well as the answers to your questions. Note that you've spent more time asking questions here than it would've taken you to just read it to begin with

I'm asking what your tool does that cannot be done simpler, natively
Those are wake/sleep issues no?
Yep, that's exactly what the blog post is about, sleep issues. It's right there in the title! 😂
What does that have to do with a shutdown command? Those are wake/sleep issues no?
Or is this a script that keeps running and will shut down at a regular interval? If so, why wouldn't a shutdown shortcut added to start up solve that issue?
Because windows is still prone to randomly waking and staying awake and killing laptop batteries or just wasting power. I can see this being useful.
Why would we need this when there's an integrated shutdown command with a timer and we could just make a shortcut to it?
Not snarky, genuinely curious.
shutdown /s /t 3600
.... Would shut down the computer after 1 hour
It is interesting as MS seems to take an opposite direction from Google. I wonder how this will affect the amount of malware on MS store.
Incase anyone wants to develop anything useful. All you need to develop anything in the Linux community, including the Linux kernel is a git account and maybe an email address.
No payments required.
Perhaps when the monthly update doesn't verify the signature on WinUI?
Until I see people releasing their own competing forks, I will be skeptical.
