If being a grown man wearing a Snoopy watch is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

It just makes me happy.

Found this on ebay and the design really speaks to me. Still, I'm not quite sure if it's real.

One of my most treasured possessions.

After deciding 4 months ago that I should treat myself to a nice watch, I've finally bought one and am absolutely in love. I am also currently in the phase where I am almost terrified to wear it so I don't damage it but I hope that will pass soon. 490€ is a lot for me to spend on a watch when my previous watches are a slightly modded Casio F-91W and a PineTime smartwatch with an alternate wriststrap.

It took me a long time to finally settle on a watch I wanted. At first I looked at the Citizen Eco-Drive BY1030 models and even checked them out at a jeweler, where I unfortunately found out that 42mm watches just look too big on my tiny wrists. Additionally, the blue on the black and blue dial model just did not look as good in person to me as it did online and while I adore the white version of the watch, I am not a fan of leather watchstraps for daily wear.

Walking by a jeweler, I saw the green Seiko SRPE15 in the display window and decided to check out the blue SRPB41 version (I really like blue if you can't tell ;D). That's when I came across the HCB001J1 online, which at that point had only been announced and not released. I decided to wait a bit more and after I came back from vacation called a jeweler to take a look at the SRP41 and HCB001 in person. Based on what I first saw of the green Seiko, I thought it would be a difficult choice, but as soon as I saw the HCB001J1 in person I knew what I had to buy. I feel like it's difficult to truly do the dial justice with pictures but here's my best attempt.

Sitting on an F-91W strap because. Also has incredibly long-lasting lume.

My wife and I just hit 5 years of marriage and she gifted me this wonderful Hamilton Khaki Auto ‘Murph.’ I’m obsessed with it, I can’t stop checking my wrist. And yes, I love Interstellar.

The "Mission Impossible" watch (DW-290) got an upgrade. Another worthy contender for those that want to step dangerously close to G-Shock territory.

A reminder that some day I'll be out there driving a stylish classic grand tourer up an Alpine road with my gorgeous partner in the passenger seat and the wind in our hair...just as soon as I'm done with my desk job.

Not a G-Shock, but it's tough as nails and you can see the time from a mile away

I mentioned I liked it in passing and literally minutes later my partner had it snapped up and ready to go at the store.

And I got it for damn cheap, too. (Partner got it as a gag gift of sorts, but it tells the time just fine and it doesn't look half bad, so I'm happy to wear it)

My first automatic that set off my watch obsession in earnest.

Partner found this beauty at a thrift market for under €2. Looked it up and apparently it's so rare that it goes for over $400 online. Got it authenticated and fixed up at the Casio store and it runs flawlessly!

Another minimalist one, passed down to me by my partner's father who got it on a trip to the Boeing facility in Seattle in the US some 15 or so years ago. Call me childish, but I absolutely love the little airplane on the second hand.

Going minimalist today with this beauty that my wonderful partner got me last year.

Hi

I'm trying to find some device that would allow me to set a vibrating alarm and that does not need to be charged frequently (<1 time per month).

Originally I was looking at fitness bands, but a lot of them require more frequent charging, and also need to be paired with a smartphone, and usually they use proprietary charging connectors.

So I decided to check around for more traditional watches, but the options seem to be limited if you want something that can vibrate. I think some of the Casio watches have that option, but there are so many different options and I don't know anything about watches. I'm hoping to get something that is not too expensive either.

Ideally I would like to have something that just needs to have the battery swapped once every few years, or maybe even charges by itself? (Not sure how feasible that is with vibrating alarms)

Anyone have some experience with this?

In our area (southern central time zone USA), our next lunar eclipse happens to be on 3/14/2025, max eclipse at 1:58am. That's coincidentally very close to PI (3.14159...) that I decided to go ahead and set the third alarm for 3/14-1:59am.

I went ahead and set the second alarm for the day before at 6pm as an early reminder.

I like my circles round, couldn't help but notice the coincidence.
