In my opinion I don't think there will ever be a reason to fully stop producing this cannon, it is ideally optimized for extreme light weightness, reliability and volume of fire and new technology doesn't really change that. Yes the range compared to drones doesn't seem that impressive but the job of infantry is to get closer to you than is comfortable and these are VERY easy for infantry to lug along behind them with light vehicles.

You can throw it out of airplanes if you want...

It is half the weight of most other similar systems and just as reliable which makes it one of the most formidable infantry tools there is period, especially in difficult conditions.

Three Labour peers have been criticised by one of their party colleagues after speaking at the ‘Battle of Ideas’ festival, which is sponsored by a Reform mega-donor and which partnered with a far-right bookshop, which sells books by Joseph Goebbels and Oswald Mosley.

Labour MP Phil Brickell accused his colleagues of “legitimising” Reform’s crypto billionaire Ben Delo by participating in last weekend’s event, which was partnered with the far-right Oldspeak bookshop.

The festival, run by Baroness Claire Fox’s Academy of Ideas, partnered with the bookshop, as an official partner last weekend. Its guide pointed attendees their way, to source “works that challenge contemporary narratives and reinforce foundational beliefs”. Several speakers also conducted book signings at the stall.

As Byline Times recently reported, just days before, Oldspeak’s owner received a visit from police over an allegedly racist post on X. Oldspeak’s account frequently posts calls for “remigration” – the mass expulsion of people deemed not to be ‘British’ – but the visit focused on a photo the account posted of two Muslim men in the Suffolk village where it was previously based, captioned: “It’s started.” Responses included racist abuse.

The organisers had been asked about the bookshop’s more extreme content. This has included claiming that the black England footballer Marcus Rashford’s parents’ nationalities mean “he cannot be English”, and approvingly sharing a video arguing that entire communities four generations deep should be stripped of citizenship, detained and deported. Another post included the hashtag “#millionsmustgo”.

The Budget debate wraps up this week. MPs continue debating it on Monday and Tuesday, then finish with a vote. The government bill this week is on sporting events. It would make it easier to host big tournaments such as Euro 2028, including cracking down on ticket touts. Then Parliament heads off for autumn recess. MPs return to their constituencies at the end of Wednesday, and return on Tuesday 10 November. ### MONDAY 2 NOVEMBER Submarine Recycling Strategy Bill
Requires the government to prepare and publish a strategy for recycling decommissioned submarines. Ten minute rule motion presented by Graeme Downie. Budget debate
Continued from last Thursday. ### TUESDAY 3 NOVEMBER Food Labelling (Halal and Kosher Meat) Bill
Requires halal and kosher meat, and products containing it, to be labelled. Ten minute rule motion presented by Esther McVey. Budget debate
Continued from Monday. ### WEDNESDAY 4 NOVEMBER Fashion Supply Chain (Code and Adjudicator) Bill
Sets up a code of practice for how fashion retailers deal with their suppliers, and creates a watchdog to enforce it. Ten minute rule motion presented by Liz Twist. Sporting Events Bill – report stage and 3rd reading
Applies to: England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland
Creates a legal framework for hosting major international sporting events, so a separate law isn’t needed for each one. For the events it covers, it creates a ticket touting offence, restricts advertising and trading around venues, and bans businesses from using branding that suggests an official link to the event. In England, it allows the government to order a transport plan for the host area, and lets councils bring in temporary road restrictions.
Draft bill (PDF) / Commons Library briefing ### THURSDAY 5 NOVEMBER No votes scheduled ### FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER No votes scheduled ### PREVIOUS WEEK'S VOTES Passed

  • Developer Contributions (Infrastructure Delivery) Bill – goes to second reading
  • Building Safety (Remediation of Unsafe Cladding etc) Bill – goes to committee stage

The area between Bromborough and Otterspool has today been revealed as the preferred development zone for the world’s largest tidal power scheme.

Also see https://l1local.co.uk/news/mersey-tidal-barrage-location-funding-2026/

For people around Otterspool, Bromborough and the wider estuary, the unanswered details include the actual shore connections, construction access, any electricity cables and the effect of altered water levels. The official announcement includes a proposed corridor map, but it should not be read as a final construction plan.

...

The Mersey estuary is not an empty stretch of water. Its mudflats, saltmarshes and shorelines support feeding and wintering birds, fish and other wildlife. The Mersey Estuary and the Mersey Narrows and North Wirral Foreshore have internationally protected habitats. The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside has raised concerns that changing tidal patterns could alter the habitats on which birds and other species depend.

Is the UK the most snowflake nation in the world right now or is the US still in the lead? It is neck and neck I can't tell.

“A stronger Europe is vital and the UK must be at the heart of it,” Starmer told an audience at the British Irish Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

“I will say here what I have said to European leaders. This is about responding to a permanent change of affairs, not an aberration of the Trump presidency. Things will not go back to the way they were before.

Is he right?
