I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen this community come up, and I'm curious why it's "Skyrim" and not "The Elder Scrolls" or even "Bethesda (Game Studio)"? Lemmy normally struggles with specific game communities (though I recognize Skyrim has one of the largest historically). Broadening it seems smart, and Skyrim specifically seems shortsighted because there will eventually be more TES games.

No, but inflation also impacts how much have left to purchase games, which is the decisive factor for me.
€80 today is worth less than €60 when Skyrim released.
Do you think the game industry is somehow immune from inflation?
Meh, I just need more mods. I'm not going to spend 80€ on any game, thank you very much.
It's been 15 years since Skyrim. Will we ever see Elder Scrolls 6? Will it be good?
I always have a mod that destroys bodies too. Ashes to ashes.
I like that OP apparently considers it to qualify as "mercy killing" if you do your best to dispatch your murder victim with a single strike
I never married in any Skyrim playthrough. It's just "why bother?"
Like calling a cop eh
I don't remember who I married in the original skyrim release.
I haven't really found a point apart from getting a few coins from vendors.
Im a Seranaholic, I think I might have a problem!

It baldurs gate 3 there's a scene in the city cemetery where this kid is trying necromancy to raise her dead parent, i decided to help and show how to do it and accidentally raised the entire graveyard. Guards hated me after that debacle,,
I kinda prefer her mom
Or do you...
I had a problem. I decided to use necromancy to solve it. Now I have two problems.
Thank the fucking divines for mods. Not only is Serana the hottest cold body in Nirn, she's also able to wed.
Ummm. It was either Muiri or Dravyna Stoneweaver. There was murder involved but not like that.
Jesus
Matt Berry?? Fucking sold already.
The mod also adds new loot including the Meatball Helmet, which sadly I don't have an image of
I guess the writer didn't even go to the effort of installing the mod...
also very charming lore.
Could someone kindly explain the origin story on this?
You’re right, there’s a few examples in the past. Cool Spot comes to mind as well, Pepsi man too.
What I mean is really the scale change. Whereas we have a handful from the past, I suspect a quantity that’s hard to process is on the horizon. If you don’t need a game to exist longer than 15 mins or something, you can vibe code that in a week or less as a solo.
The post’s example likely required more work from Matt than whoever did the mod implementation. Companions aren’t too complicated, and the hardest part technically would be visually representing the shelves’ inventory on the actor model itself. I would bet the content is Matt delivering a few specific lines at particularly important plot points & otherwise a bunch of canned phrases.
This isn’t to disparage the effort, Matt, or the devs. I’m trying to highlight how accessible video games projects are with AI vibe coding, especially within a controlled scope.
This is far from the beginning, Tapper came out over 40 years ago and that's just a Budweiser ad. I (out of sheer boredom) played Sneak King 20 years ago, where you're the creepy big-headed Burger King mascot from their tv ads and you have to sneak around and surprise people with burgers. It sucked, Tapper's way better. You're definitely right that llms are going to make it worse, but advergaming has been around just about as long as video games themselves.
I feel like people have forgotten that the very first Steam Workshop mod was a similar type of ad.
As a chronically-overencumbered item hoarder, this might be the best Skyrim mod ever.
