Hello !running community!

The current moderation team for !running has been inactive for a while, so the admin team has stepped in temporarily to help keep the queue clear and find new volunteer moderators from the community.

Interested in Moderating !running?

If you enjoy this community and would like to help keep it welcoming, spam-free, and well-maintained:

  • Reply in the comments below or send a Direct Message to @ieh.
  • Let us know if you have any prior moderation experience (not required!) and what you'd like to see for the community.

(Note: If any of the previous moderators return in the future, they are always welcome to reach out to the admin team as well!)

Requirements and notes:

  • Reports do not get sent for moderators without a lemmy.world account, so if you have an account on a different instance, you'd need to create one here and check it daily for reports (takes a few seconds at most)
  • Most communities get reports infrequently, often once per week or less. Although sometimes more. Checking daily is important
  • Moderate fairly according to the community rules. Everyone has to make subjective calls, but try to be objective
  • Enforce the Lemmy.World ToS

If you have any questions, would like to volunteer, please reply below!

While the world's biggest marathons compete to attract tens of thousands of runners, an altogether smaller race in the leafy Oxfordshire countryside continues to produce some of Britain's most impressive sub-three-hour statistics. The Abingdon Marathon welcomed 1,023 finishers on Sunday, 18 October, with 150 breaking three hours, giving it a remarkable sub-3 rate of 14.7%.

The question 'I' m arriving into X station in London at 8.15am on Saturday. What parkruns can I get to in time?' comes up fairly often on parkrun tourism groups, so I thought I'd try to put a simple list together to help. For the list I have used the 14 central London terminal stations plus the 4 central London through-stations that are considered terminals for ticketing purposes. These are collectively known as the London Station Group.

On Monday, George Scholey, originally from the United Kingdom, took to Toronto’s Central Tech Stadium with a team of pacers, videographers, and timers to attempt the Rubik’s Cube mile world record in front of a crowd of supporters. Unlike a regular mile, the Rubik’s Cube mile starts with Scholey solving a Rubik’s Cube, then requires him to solve a different cube on each subsequent lap, except the last. He ran an impressive 5:09.25, shattering the previous mark of 5:22.75 set by the U.S.’s Jake Hanson in June, and earning his fourth Guinness World Records title.

Adidas athletes have won eight of the 12 Major races in 2026, seven of them in the Evo 3, and they hold 20 of the 36 podium places. Nike runners have seven of those places, ASICS runners five, Under Armour two, and On and Xtep one each, going by Sneaker Freaker‘s tally of the season with Chicago added. Across the same seven Majors last year, Adidas won seven of 14.

A door to therapy has no one in front of it, but a door to long distance running has a line of people

Just curious. If you're training for a race, what's your weekly mileage like, and what distance are you training for? I'm stuck around 20 mpw right now because life, kind of want to live vicariously through other runners. Hoping to eventually get back to ultras, but probably won't have time to run enough for that for at least a year or two.
