This is where our elder’s would look up and quietly proclaim, “well, looks like rain’s coming”. Then you’d have 24-48 hours to get the sheep in and if you had ears of corn close to ready, harvest em with as much root as possible so it kept growing (a little). If you didn’t listen, everything would drown in the canyon. Sheep are duuuuumb.

I have a love/hate with your picture but there’s no denying it’s beautiful.

To be fair I've had a magpie claw my head which drew blood, cheeky devils. I always get a little heartbroken about the lady that was swooped and fell with her baby that then passed away.

As a young child who may have slightly agitated plovers.. they definitely enjoy a swoop.

The parents didn't get right up at me, they were just agitated and making calls/circling the area.

I've never actually had a problem with plovers despite plenty of stories from others about how aggressive they can be, similarly I've had magpies fly past and click their beaks near me a few times during their season but I've never had them go past that. I feel like a lot of the time people just get panicked when a bird starts trying to make a point.

The way those bricks catch on your clothing, I always had an urge to run and jump on to a wall and see if I'd stick to it like velcro

The CFMEU gives unions a bad name, which is bad for all workers.

They need to remove their rot and implement big changes to transparency and hiring policy. It will take decades of successful meaningful action to earn back public trust.

Else, the government will use them as an excuse to come down hard on all unions via legislation and in public discourse, which helps nobody but the big end of town.

It’s more common than you might think. That should be observable from a wide range of locations around it.

I’d use it as an RO. I’d be happy to throw a set of legs and GPS antenna for a base over or near it as well.

My guess as to who placed it would be the state survey department.

Trenches. Beaumont-Hamel was part of the Battle of the Somme. Beaumont-Hamel was also the place where a large amount of Newfoundlanders, people from the island of Newfoundland (where I'm from), died. 780 men went into that battle. The next morning, 68 were available for role call.

You're welcome. This poster was on the back of a phone box in Rundle Mall. I'm sure the poster is a bit of fun street art and not something the council put up.

Interestingly each year about 10,000 to 12,000 tree martins roost in a small group of trees in Rundle Mall over Summer/Autumn. I thought they'd have migrated elswhere by now but they are still around. It's an amazing sight to walk under the trees in the middle of a city pedestrian mall, and see thousands of little birds chilling out at night. If you search Adelaide tree martins there's a few photos and videos out there.
