BYE-NANCE lol that's good

Imagine running a multibillion dollar company in financial tech with decades of history serving customers stocks, crypto, fiat banking, you name it, and giving one singular software engineer the ability to make real transactions with no verification or holds or anything.

I certainly don't watch them like I used to a decade ago. I do still catch a couple videos now and again when the topic is especially interesting. Like some of the recent Linux stuff.

It's a shame Linus waited so long to hand off leadership. He clearly wasn't capable. And now unfortunately it's really kind of tainted the brand overall. Which is a shame. Stuff like their labs and true spec gear, look pretty decent. I think we've all encountered USB cables that look like they might snap if you look at them wrong. Their true spec cables look pretty decent. Like some of the ugreen cables I've gotten. Those things could just about support my weight and let me swing from them if I needed to.

No. You are correct. The reason I brought that up. Was it because of that LTT will likely never have an official peer tube of their own. There 100% are peer tube Channels with their videos on them. But all of them unofficial to my understanding? So this in particular is an interesting intersectionality.

I think it would actually be interesting to see someone like Luke, take a look at peer tube. And give his thoughts as someone that runs their own video platform.

That's at least trinary right there. 4 if you count the paragraph afterward. But my apologies for trying to start discussion and get some engagement in what's generally a pretty dead community. I didn't realize you had an axe to grind. I will keep that in mind in the future.

Why does everything have to be binary with you people? I watch them once in a while and don't want to use a proprietary platform. Even if I watched their youtube channel, it'd be through a privacy frontend so they wouldn't get the views anyway.

If they saw that an unofficially copied channel garnered a lot of views, they might be tempted to make an official presence. If all we do is go "they'll never come here, I'll watch them on youtube", well, you know what'll happen.

    3 things

    • if you're a fan, watching on YouTube supports them. An unofficial peertube doesn't.
    • if you're not a fan, why would you watch even if it was on peertube.
    • they also run floatplane.

Even generally liked creators that have their own peertube. Like Veronica explains. I would be a bit more tempted to watch on YouTube unless I was supporting via patreon. I suppose the one middle ground on that would be regarding advertisements. I did try to watch some videos signed out on a system that was stock....... holy hell that did suck.

Oh it was pain and suffering. I understand that there can always be issues with setting up zigbee or zwave devices. Zooz didn't sponsor that video and I wanted to say that I've had nothing but solid connections and near zero issues with the 9+ Zooz devices running in my home right now. Out of 28 devices I think my most problematic one has been the Ring stuff (minus the door/window sensors, those are GOATed). I also have Innovelli switches - which Linus also put them into a bad light (pun intended) at first. Hey at least the GE/Jasco video convinced me never to use them for anything. Their Cinc shit sucks, too.

Granted my setup is different and everyone's mileage may vary, but if you do it right you shouldn't have to worry about it again.

Does Homey allow you to pair with Smart Start and the DSK? It looked too simple to be true.

IDK, I know HoneAssistant isn't for everyone and Homey, Domitica, and the others are trying to make it simpler and I appreciate that, but it's going to take some trial and error.

Buy a cheap second hand micro pc. Tons of them around with 4gb of memory, Put your favorite variety of Linux on it. Plug into hdmi. Disable it's WiFi. Done and you now have a box that's vasty more useful and way faster. Ie install jellyfish etc. There are also good Bluetooth remotes around.
