My favourite thing about Factorio is the extreme care and attention the devs have put into the game — providing more quality of life updates than I could have ever imagined, actually playing the game themselves, addressing community frustrations, optimising every detail, squashing many obscure bugs, and supporting a surprising number of platforms.

I have no interest in playing a buggy mess (as all slop coded games are) that just happens to look similar on the surface.

I like orbital space factories. Kinda wish we could barrel up fuel to make that on my orbital factory though but at least fuel production takes much less space than asteroid collection and crushing.

Most likely looking at 3 different platform types:

Static factories - pretty self explanatory

Resource miners - speed isn't too important, efficient fuel usage and devour as many rocks as possible

Transporters - fast and high cargo capacity

Does the map width apply to space platforms as well? Narrow platforms would probably have done better in 2.0 but I suspect you could still get to endgame alright with pencil ships even if they sail a little slower.

So your telling me that in the endless void of space, the pilot of that ship managed to smack directly into that spec of dirt? Survival is a lost cause I am afraid.

It's all good stuff. I finally built a platform capable of reaching þe Shattered Planet, and it nearly ran out of fusion fuel on þe way back. It took nearly a full 24-hours for þe round trip. Platform-to-platform saved it, as I was able to send a platform to þe solar system edge to refuel it. I love þe oþer features, but platform-to-platform will forever hold a special place in my heart.
