Some of the white quartz were foraged nearby but most came from a bag of rocks for tumbling. This is after stage 1 of tumbling.

A collections of smokey, pink and white quartz, partially smoothed, on a towel.

Moss Agate (?) (lemmy.today)
submitted 3 months ago by to c/cool_rocks@lemmy.today

It's about the size of a walnut in the shell. I got it with a bag of random rocks and tumbled it through four stages for about a month. The fact that it didn't get very rounded off means it's quite hard. It's more green in real life with lots of neat transparent bits.

Since the river is totally dry, I decided to take the dogs on their morning hike in the riverbed.

I was surprised how much pumice I kept finding. I started to leave the small pieces, looking only for larger pieces.

Bonus, some Asian clam shells, and this pretty shiny red-brown rock.
