I'm teaching myself some small electronics projects and looking for a network in the UK that will allow me to top up by e.g. £5 and leave it for as long as possible - likely 6 months, before having to top it up again to keep it active.

It will be monitoring and sending data back in tiny packets every month a few things.

I can remember Vodafone used to do it, but not sure if they do anymore.

Also, I might need a couple of them in different locations, so if any networks provide a SIM for free, or as close to (e.g. £1) that will stay active.

Are there any? EE don't. I don't think. They deactivated my SIM before I even got to top it up.. 😁

I'm a bit of an environmentalist at the best of times, but pretty much anyone can agree that driving into London is not the best way to get there. From the traffic, to the congestion charge, to the expensive parking.

I've always been driving to Thornhill Park and Ride near Oxford, and taking that into London, but at about £35 on the day, I think I could do better. I would take the train, but that's about double the price from where I am!

What do you guys do when you have to go to London? Do you have any secrets for getting there cheaply? This question will probably vary depending on where you guys are in the UK, but I think it'd be interesting to hear a variety of strategies anyway!

I watch your news and it is nothing like the USA. Also I am missing something what outlets or channels do you use to keep track of your countries.
