SA is awash with colour, with wildflowers blooming in national parks, reserves and by roadsides across the state, after heavy winter rains.

It's been a bumper season for the state's iconic Sturt's Desert Pea, with Flinders and Outback parks manger Philip Strachan telling ABC Adelaide the flowers had bloomed early, and in numbers not seen by locals in the area since 1974...

The familiar red and black still dominates, but the scale of this year's bloom has made rarer white, pink and purple variations easier to spot.

No matter how old you are, no matter how special you are, if you’re an Adelaide Park Lands’ tree, don’t have your roots buried between Premier Peter Malinauskas and a vanity project. Rex Patrick reports.

We get it. The MotoGP motorbike racing is entertaining and will be popular with South Australians. But is it OK to cut down 400 trees and put an imposing 16-acre racecourse in the middle of what was once a world unique park land?

Would such a proposition in New York City Central Park be entertained? Only if Peter Malinauskas were the NYC’s Mayor.

Amazing work! I hope they extend the service.

Every year, hundreds of First Nations people from around the country seek out Ali Abdullah-Highfold in hopes of finding a missing piece of their family history.

"We've had Stolen Generation members come in and I've shown them photos of their mother before that they've never seen, [after] they were taken and adopted into a white family," Mr Abdullah-Highfold said.

"We've had lots of tears and laughter so it's very rewarding to be able to give them back their family history."

I didn’t see anything in the rules about posts like this, so please let me know if general inquiry is not allowed here.

With that said, hello everyone!

My family (Americans from Chicago) will be moving to Adelaide next year because my wife accepted a university job over there (waiting on visa process for permanent residency).

What advice or general knowledge about Adelaide would you love for us to know?

Anything amazing we should be aware of, see, do, etc? I love D&D, so I’m hoping to find a group to play with eventually (I also love to DM).

We’ve been to Sydney and Cairns a couple of years ago and absolutely loved our time there. We all cannot wait!

The measure – which restricts in-water recreational activities, including swimming, snorkelling and diving, as well as vessel anchoring – aims to minimise any disturbance on breeding cuttlefish and help protect their eggs and hatchlings.

All marine park sanctuary zones are areas of high conservation value and no fishing has been allowed in them for more than a decade.

Latest surveys undertaken by the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and Department for Environment and Water (DEW) show a significant reduction in cuttlefish numbers this breeding season.

The most commonly sighted whales in SA are Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales, which grace the coastline each year from May to October.

Toothed whales such as Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales and killer whales are around, but are usually found further offshore. The world’s largest animal, the Blue Whale, feeds offshore in the upwelling zones off Kangaroo Island and the Bonney Coast.

If Sarah Game's anti-abortion bill passes the Upper House today, it will go straight to vote in the Lower House TONIGHT.

Come out this evening to defend our hard won abortion rights.

Abortion should be free, safe and accessible for all! Say NO to the right wing attacks on reproductive rights. Send a clear message to the SA parliament that abortion is healthcare and bodily autonomy is a human right.

Meet outside the Adelaide Railway Station 5.30pm.

Please note: We will be staying away from Joanna Howe’s right wing anti-abortion rally which will be held at Parliament House, and advise folks to not engage with any pro-life agitators.

You can also help by sending an email to your MP in the House of Assembly. Email petition organised by South Australian Abortion Action Coalition (SAAAC) and Fair Agenda.

From SAAAC Facebook:

As soon as resources become available we will share them to help you easily let your MP know you oppose these cruel attacks on abortion care.

You can also directly contact your MP.

More on the SAAAC website. I'd copy and post here but the links get stripped.

The mushrooms’ cup-shaped fruiting bodies grow in clusters and sometimes bouquets on pine stumps, the base of living eucalypt trees or along old roots, and can grow as big as 20 centimetres across.

In daylight, they appear a creamy white colour, sometimes with brown, black or purple shading, but at night we see them glowing green.

Like glow worms, fire flies, and sea sparkle, ghost mushrooms produce light known as bioluminescence through an internal chemical reaction.

Internal SA government emails show public servants were told to remove the words "harmful", "outbreak" and "disaster" from communications about the marine algal bloom off the state's coastline.

One Department for Environment and Water worker described the advice to remove the word "harmful" as bizarre.

The documents were released to the state opposition under Freedom of Information laws.

If they continue this way, our state governments will have to open depts for Inane Communications.

One Nation’s claim to the seat of Narungga has hit a snag weeks after the South Australian election.

Uncounted ballot papers were discovered on Thursday, forcing a recount in the Yorke Peninsula seat, which One Nation’s Chantelle Thomas won by just 58 votes.

More than 80 unopened papers have turned up, the state electoral commission has confirmed, offering a sliver of hope to the defeated Liberal candidate, Tania Stock.

The commission had already done a recount on the knife-edge seat.

To help make our parks more welcoming and accessible, a series of social scripts has been developed for several popular parks and experiences across the state. There is also a new communication board at Belair National Park.

These resources support Autistic people and their families to feel more confident and prepared when visiting our parks.
