I wish I had your optimism.

The only way congress flips is if you.... Yes you, dear reader, make sure to vote.

In 2016 people thought there was no way Orange Hitler would be elected so they didn't bother to vote. In 2024 people thought there was no way Orange Hitler would be back for a second term, yet here we are.

Donald Trump is what happens when good people ignore politics.

I imagine a lot of people are holding their breath. Less than a week until congress flips over. Then hopefully we'll see a surge of investigation and disclosure and things will heat up again.

Every single heinous act in the usa under the trump regime has been to deflect from what should be the main issue, degenerate perverts in power running things into the ground for their own benefit. Although still bandied about from time to time, family values are a thing of the past.

I wonder who might have known Jeff really really well, who might shed some light on this.

Perhaps someone who appears very often in the Epstein files.
Perhaps someone who appears most often in the Epstein files.
Perhaps someone in the Epstein file who is also a convicted sex offender.
Perhaps someone in the Epstein file who legally has the power to get someone whacked.

Hmm. I wonder if someone in the Epstein file matches all those criteria...

    Something something Bill Barr’s handwriting

    For those curious:

This reminds me of this card https://lemmy.world/post/40605849

which reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvlsFgUqIY0

Warning, this is a several hour long rabbit hole (which has an important stop here: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bill-barr-jeffrey-epstein-book/)

TLDR; The relationship between AG Bill Barr under Trump I and Epstein is significant, and this new file adds to the pile that Epstein's death was premeditated.

Thanks, King. I'm still trying to work through the report -- I have a very low tolerance reservoir for this specific content so I have to read a little and walk away, rinse and repeat, if I don't want to put a fist through a perfectly good monitor -- but I have noticed that the House report draws on unredacted EFTA files, filling them in via what the House Judiciary members saw personally in those highly-restricted DoJ visits to see the (somewhat) unredacted files.

So for you and anyone else reading the House report directly, if you see an EFTA file footnoted, look it up because the report is a glance behind the curtain of redactions.

And as such, this House report is also proof positive that at least some of the EFTA redactions are specifically meant to cover the perpetrators. See, for example, EFTA00158676, footnoted on pages 3 and 4: the public file has more blackout curtains than a movie theater, but the House report fills in significant context.

I have also been looking out for mainstream news coverage of the House report and there is next to none.

To check my hypothesis that it is being quietly downplayed by the Epstein class via their control of the media, I went looking for it on the New York Times (near the apex of billionaire media) and yesterday they ran a single "nothing to see here, not worth reading" article (archive link) hidden well off direct sight, describing it in the mildest possible terms and claiming the report "largely cites allegations that have already been public."

That's sort of true and sort of not, in a corporate weasel-word sort of way. My guess is that they are not reading it through and do not want anyone else to do so either. Especially Melania, because the report confirms that it was Epstein, and NOT Paolo Zampolli, that introduced her to Trump: ooops. All those heated denials and legal threats thwarted by Congressional reps they can't sue, lol.

The Guardian has done slightly better, running an excellent essay by Katie Phang, the journalist who has sued for access to specific files, but the sole reference to the report itself is a solitary link at the bottom of her piece. And beyond her opinion piece, there is nothing on the Guardian Epstein page about it at all. I expected better.

Thanks again for maintaining this comm as an open repository. Much appreciated.

There is already a post in this comm with the media coverage; this post links directly to the Committee's own press release and their own summary of the findings. I find it well worth reading in its own right.

King, if you find this to be duplicative feel free to take it down, but I'm posting it in the spirit of using this comm not just as a news forum but as a repository. I'll accept your judgement, whatever you decide.

Yes, exactly. If you look at the dates, the "New America" thing started right when it became public that the New Mexico AG was forced to sue the DoJ to get the unredacted Zorro Ranch documents out of the feds because Todd Blanche was being obstructive, I mean like within a day of that.

This is a huge deal: without Indyke and Kahn, Epstein could never have done what he did. They took care of the money. They hold the secrets. And the New Mexico AG just got between them and their part of the estate.

These two men, along with Karyna Shuliak, are also the primary beneficiaries of Epstein's will and are, even now, trustees of Epstein's remaining assets: this suit is seeking an injunction against any further payments being made to them by the estate for the duration of the proceedings..

This suit is also a first shot at shining public light on specific abuses that occurred at Zorro Ranch, as this is being filed by the state of New Mexico and the discovery process will almost certainly require new disclosures about specifically what occurred in that state.

Several survivors of Epstein’s abuse signed a letter on Wednesday in support of Torrez’s lawsuit “because it can expose what roles Indyke and Kahn played in Epstein’s operation, examine how they handled survivors’ claims, and prevent Epstein’s trusted loyalists from being rewarded for their roles in Epstein’s organization”.
