I was really enjoying Control, but stopped during one of the boss battles. It was so obviously a "game-y" boss battle (do this, dodge now, wait for the vulnerable part to be exposed, repeat this pattern ad nauseam). When I'm playing a story-driven immersive game, these videogamey elements shatter the immersion for me.

Yeah, tutorial videos can be great for mechanical, physical stuff.

Learning how to replace the serpentine belt in my car was much easier to just watch a guy do it, rather than read the documentation, and having to constantly go back and look up the name of this or that part to create a visual.

But anything software related? I'm crawling up the fucking wall waiting for the person in the video to finally get to the next terminal command, and stop talking about something that doesn't apply to my situation.

One of my machines is a mac.
They set up an app store many years ago, but it was never forced or required. Just install stuff the way you always did, and forget that the app store application exists.

Or are you mixing it up with the developer signing thing? That shit was annoying, and needed a terminal command to disable.

There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me,

Get him up against the wall!

    That one looks Jewish!

    And that one's a coon!

Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?

    There's one smoking a joint,

    And another with spots!

    If I had my way,

I'd have all of you shot!
