I wonder if this is part of the reason her dad was in His Dark Materials. I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that he auditioned to be there to make sure that she was all right. Since that was after Logan, they might have had a family agreement to let her act, but keep an eye out for people offering her hard drugs.

Anyway, I thought she was great for the role of Lyra, and her dad was an excellent creepy cardinal.

As someone who worked in medical imaging many years ago, I need to be the pedant who says, "Well, actually, a CAT scan (or CT scan) fires x-rays through the body and measures what gets through, while an MRI uses a strong magnetic field to align the spins of all hydrogen atoms in the body, then sends a radio wave to disrupt those spins and measures the energy emitted as the atoms realign. They're completely different technologies."

That's false. These are the directional shifts for every Texas house seat since 2024 (stolen from CNN).

Some of the farms and ranches are a slightly reddish tinge of purple, but not beets.

I would just like to call out that the distinguishing properties of this (possibly) emerging species are emergent properties.

As a former worker at a big tech company filled with morons who thought that "emergent" was a synonym for "emergency", it delights me when the word can be used correctly.

I had never heard of Isaac Slade until a month or so ago. The Fray are currently touring and did a show near me, at Woodinville's Chateau Ste-Michelle Winery. As a venue, they're not getting arena-filling acts, but they're usually bands/artists who had several hits a few years back, and will appeal to a 40+ year-old audience. This year's lineup included Beck, Tori Amos, and Sarah McLachlan. The Fray was one of the weaker bands in the lineup, as evidenced by the number of emails I received telling me that tickets were still available.

Meanwhile, Isaac Slade happens to be somewhat local. Following The Fray's show, he put on his own rival show -- at the Kirkland Performance Center, a small community theater. I'm on their mailing list, because I took my daughter there to see the Amazing Bubble Man (a guy who blows bubbles -- to be fair, it is pretty cool).

Hopefully that provides context on where Isaac Slade is as a celebrity.

I'm working towards Completionist++, playing Yellow Deck most of the time. Usually I focus on setting up a winning build first and then pick up a joker or two missing the gold sticker towards the end.

This run, I got an eternal Vagabond (with the white sticker) in the first shop and decided to YOLO it. Built my whole run around spending all my money to max out the tarot cards. Getting Constellation early on was a big help, since it gave me a reason to use High Priestess. Eventually, I managed to build towards flush five with kings of hearts. (The first boss was the hearts debuff, so I knew it wouldn't come back.)

I thought it was an interesting run, since it's the only time I've really leaned into Vagabond.
