I don't think there's a need to invent a conspiracy to explain Christianity. Paulogia's minimal witnesses explanation seems perfectly adequate to me.

I do think the Gospels were written partially to show that Christians were not going to make trouble for Rome.

oh yeah we don't blame Rome for killing the messiah, it was our fault. Pilate had to.

Yehoshu'a ben Yosef probably was a legendary blend of multiple people

I suspect that some traditions about Jesus of Nazareth were possibly (probably?) previously about John the baptizer. And sure yeah some things ascribed to Jesus may be from others, but the Daniel thing just seems like a really clear example of something that undermines the Christian narrative of Jesus being a wise teacher. And having never seen it spelled out before I thought I'd ask for reactions.

I've been listening to Dan McClellan, CJ Cornthwaite, and Bart Ehrman a lot recently. I put two and two together the other day.

The Gospel of Mark shows a Jesus that was highly influenced by the book of Daniel. (We can see this in things like "Son of man", "kingdom of god"). This makes sense because it was composed partially in Aramaic, the language Jesus was probably most familiar with, and would have been circulating a lot at the time (as shown by the dead sea scrolls at Qumran). N.T. Wright says:

The Book of Daniel was central to how Jesus taught and who he understood himself to be.

Biblical scholars widely agree that the book of Daniel was written well after the timeframe it purports to be from. The book retrojects prophecy (by that I mean it pretends to predict the future but is actually "predicting" the past) to forge authority, for apocalyptic prophecies that it goes on to make.

The gospel of mark portrays a Jesus fooled by this forgery. Is it possible for a thinking person to reconcile these observations, with a belief in a Jesus with divine knowledge/wisdom?

Fundamentalists will reject the scholarly consensus about the date of Daniel's composition, but what about moderate Christians?

Am I wrong? Could I explain things more clearly? I've never seen this idea articulated clearly before, but it seems very obvious now, I'm not sure it's of any interest.

    high voltage direct current

Then what... a Russian sub can just turn the lights out in Western Europe?

Europe would still have their own power generation... It would just improve generation/consumption mismatches. By island hopping you could shorten the buried lengths, to make replacing damaged sections easier.

Happy valley goose bay to the tip of Greenland, up the coast to kulusuk, across to Iceland, then to faroe islands then maybe Shetland, Bergen, Stavanger etc.

Seems like the sort of thing that isn't unreasonable to study.

I feel like a crazy person saying this but: one particular door handle in an office building I go to once peer week always feels warmer than ambient.

It's the handle inside the stairwell on the main floor. It feels warmer than ambient, with either hand, if I was just using the handrail or not. There's no sunlight shining on it. I use the handle on my way out of the building a few minutes after I pass by it on the way in, so I know there's nobody standing there holding it for several minutes just before I use it. It feels warm if I check it on my way into the building as well.

The handle on the lobby side of the door seems normal. The handle upstairs seems normal. The door feels normal. The strike plate in the doorframe feels normal.

It's super weird. Could the motion detector mounted above the door be bathing it in IR light or something?

I'm going to see if I can find my IR thermometer to quantify my subjective observation. Are there any other potential sources of energy I haven't thought of? Anything that could be messing with my perceptions? anything in particular I should remember when going to collect some data?

    Update:

Nothing in the strike plate. Electrical conduit goes into door frame, but not into door.

I took some measurements today. Sorry it took so long, I forgot the thermometer twice, then remembered but discovered it was out of batteries. Then I forgot the batteries once or twice.

Infra red forehead thermometer with "liquids" setting. I don't trust it for absolute values but for relative values I think it's okay.

I put blue masking tape on some points of interest so that I'd be measuring from the same material.

the door in question with tape on the points I measured

I waited at least a minute between applying tape and measuring temps.

The conduit on the left: 24.0C The junction box on the right:24.0C The handle on the hallway side of the door (not pictured): 26.0C The handle on the stairwell side of the door: 28-29.5C depending on where I measure.

Someone that works in the building mentioned the door in the basement is the same. I only measured the handle down there but yeah 28-29.5.

A problem with my methodology: I put some of the tape on a few weeks ago, (conduit and junction box), and some of it today (the door handles) all the door handles measured warmer than the conduit and junction box. It's possible the tape had warmed up in my car in the sun, or pulling it off the roll may have warmed it.
