Yes what we want is transferable licenses, that's what we are losing and or lost with digital storefronts. We want to own the license. We want a physical, tangible thing

Technically yes, in the legalese context the term people should be using is 'license', but for most people that's what the game is, it's always been that, but that's not the term people use. "owning the game" is the exact same thing as the legal term "owning a transferable license".

What we want is that tangible transferable license, aka owning the game. We don't want the source code, or the IP. We just want to be able to own the game that lets us trade, borrow/lend, sell, or buy 'used' games.

But boiling it down to just "license" allows for that terms of the license to be changed because corporations have been given the power to change the terms of every license ever to fit their own whims without the real consent of both parties. We've seen that shit already with digital license games. Sony can just up and remove the game from your account without consulting you or even informing you the second party of the license. They don't have to give you a reason, they can just up and change the agreement without you needing to agree to the changes. And even if they do ask you to agree to the changes, they only present you with 2 choices: agree or lose access. That's bullshit.

That's what I don't get. Everything in the fucking store is insured! A $20 pack of diapers is insured! The store will get that back, take it up as a loss.

Sure you don't want to encourage theft, but shit happens. Oops someone accidentally walked out with one item. Sure send someone out to inform the customer, maybe they legit missed it. If you can't locate the customer or they already started to drive away, welp put that under accidental loss. It's not that different from someone accidentally dropping a jar of pickles off the shelf. The store isn't going to call the cops because of an accidental jar drop.

But we all know it wasn't the accidental shoplifting, it's because she was black. That's the ONLY reason why the cops were called. Because of the color of her skin. And then the trigger happy racist as fuck cop saw that and shot first and never asked questions. It's past time there were serious fucking consequences for these fucking piece of shit pigs (cops).

I'd fucking boycott that fucking store and the owner. Force corporate to act over this shit.

I'm pretty sure all Microsoft needed to do was put in a check to see if it was running on battery or not. And I remember seeing that they finally fixed it months ago.

Modern windows is bogged down by decades old compatibility architecture. Shit programed in the 80s will still run on modern windows for the most part. All because corporations and businesses still run those programs or severs today and refuse to update or replace them. Look at the fucking US aviation industry. Billions of dollars in revenue and still run windows 95 level shit programs.

Microsoft needs to pull an apple and rebuild windows from the ground up without any compatibility layers. Enough is enough.

It's not that apple solved it, it's that Microsoft purposely fucked it up.

It's called "modern standby" and if you put your laptop to sleep while it is plugged into power, some windows services and wifi aren't actually put to sleep, and instead will ping windows update servers to download and install some updates while the machine is "asleep".

Even if and when you put the laptop to sleep while plugged into power and then remove power to say out the laptop in your bag. Those services that aren't put to sleep never check to see if you are still on wall power or battery and keep doing what they do draining the battery

Linus tech tips on YouTube did a whole deep dive into it. Some laptops you can disable modern standby through the command prompt but newer hardware doesn't allow for it. The only real workaround is unplug your laptop for a few seconds before putting it to sleep.

You mean the "try it for free" where you only get 50GB of usages per month for "free" where it will stop working if you hit that, and then they have a paid subscription if you want more? That "free"?

"If you need more data, you can subscribe to Mozilla VPN for unlimited usage"

Sounds like fucking advertising to me
