Thank you, that makes sense. In the communities I participate in I've experienced a slight preference towards gift economy rather than explicit bartering, so this resonates with me.

Your neighbor sounds great. If you do make them a cake, please let us know what you made!

There's Læther Strip who are firmly within industrial/ebm.

Soft Cell, while not technically ebm or industrial, had a big influence on both genres.

For a more current band, Pixel Grip are very queer and play a fun mix of ebm, electro-industrial and synthpop.

I'd love some recommendations to books with a similar feel to Pattern Recognition by William Gibson. The things I particularly enjoyed about this book were the way visual elements and imagery were described, as well as how they made the protagonist feel.

I'm not necessarily looking for a similar plot, and it doesn't need to be sci-fi or speculative fiction.

So, hit me with your recommendations! I'd love to know what you enjoyed about the book you recommend too 😊

I'm new to making sourdough, and I'm relatively new to baking bread in general, so please forgive me if this is a very basic question.

I've made a starter using nothing but dark rye flour. I'm prepping my first rye loaf right now following this pure rye loaf recipe, but I still have a lot of the rye starter left over that I'm storing in the fridge. Can I use this starter to make other kinds of bread, like whole wheat or white? If so, what kind of adaptations (if any) should I make when preparing these different loaves?
