and wasting hundreds of dollars on way too much detergent.
Bee-link and GMKtec make some tiny computers purposely designed to be home servers. I thankfully got a ME mini NAS before the LLM apocalypse and it is a beast that can expand up to 24TB. It comes with an Intel N150 that runs all my personal services and consumes almost no power at all. But they also make other smaller models (the ME mini is already minuscule for what it does) that can fit 2 M.2 disks and they all have their own power supply and ethernet connection. The only problem is that the prices have skyrocketed because RAM and solid state storage starvation.
They are still, somehow, cheaper than Raspberry's post-price hikes while being more powerful.
Any mental illness could be regarded as a type of diversity.
Yes, that's the purpose of the term “neurodivergent”, to destigmatize mental illness. Many mental illnesses can be lived with, in a relatively normal way, and could also benefit from societal awareness, accommodation and integration. Also, they could incur a risk of discrimination. They also have no cure, just like a physical disability e.g. a leg amputation, is simply a different body condition that will not change. Much like “person with disability”, the correct term should be “neurodivergent person” or “person with neurodivergency”, to avoid the misappropriation of the word as a derogatory term.
The “all brains are unique” side, doesn't actually work. It's a slippery slope that runs the risk of rendering oppressed minorities invisible. See the, “we are all sexually diverse”, dog whistle that was used in right wing rhetoric as an attempt to erase LGBTQ+ pride.
If you want the cooling system to survive, yes.
Ocean water is atrociously corrosive, prone to clogging tubes and short circuits much more easily than distilled water.
Nah, it's a grift. The Melon's pitch straight up includes factually wrong physics claims. It is not easier, nor cheaper, to have data centers in space.
Actual scientists have done the math. Even disregarding maintenance for data corruption from radiation, and assuming the best near future tech. It would take 10 times an ISS equivalent structure to power and cool down a single server rack.
Musk promised he wants to get 1 Tera Watt of LLM processing power in orbit. That's 10,000 times an ISS of solar panels and IR radiators for cooling. The enterprise is completely unrealistic.
The whole thing is just a con to get governments to funnel more money into his companies without having to deliver any actual results.
And ethically trained. People should be financially compensated if their data was used to train AI without their consent.
It is rather complicated. My understanding is that most repackers actually have their own custom pipeline for repacking and even custom tooling.
What a repack is, is just a custom compression and packaging of the video game install. Some experimental repacks cut, or rip, part of the game such that it occupies less space while still keeping the game functional. Many choose not to cut anything. A part of the process is using a different optimized compression type for each type of data file in the game, then assembling a compressed file for distribution. Finally, they supply the custom installer that reverses the process correctly.
It is a rather technical and fascinating side of software development. But when I looked at it, it seemed a bit tedious.
Between NVIDIA, Intel and AMD. There's no longer a lesser evil to choose.
Yeah, Steam is even better. It shares pre-compiled shader binaries as a download among users who have the same GPU configuration. The caveat is that it all depends on the game's underlying graphical technology, and not all of them are compatible.
Sure, but let's imagine. If there's a conference somewhere (it doesn't matter what it is about), and you go there and start screaming on a loudspeaker anti con-topic questions to try to make someone punch you in the face. You will get punched in the face and then kicked out, probably banned for life, from said conference.
Now, you could argue, that you were trying to get the most toxic people in the con to mask-off themselves. But you will still be just an asshole. It's unhinged behavior, you are the toxic people in the comm. There are rules and a purpose to the space, so don't cry and whine when you get kicked out for breaking such rules.
This is not TikTok. Please, just say what the actual software does somewhere in the post instead of linking directly to a change log that means nothing for someone who doesn't yet know what the software does.
