The US-Israel relationship is presented by it’s backers as a ‘strategic’ alliance built on shared values and common security interests. Yet the actual diplomatic history between the two nations reveals the opposite.. it’s shaped by domestic political pressure, ideological movements, intelligence controversies and competing strategic priorities. Christian Zionism has helped create a powerful constituency for Israel within American politics, while pro Israel lobbying has worked to maintain bipartisan support for military assistance and diplomatic protection. Meanwhile, Israel’s pursuit of nuclear weapons exposed a striking double standard in American nonproliferation policy, and espionage cases involving Israeli intelligence operations on American soil raised questions about the limits of an alliance supposedly built on trust. The relationship extends well beyond military cooperation. Billions of dollars in American assistance and repeated diplomatic concessions have made support for Israel a deeply entrenched feature of Washington’s foreign policy. Under Donald Trump, this relationship took on a new dimension, with Benjamin Netanyahu and Jared Kushner playing prominent roles in shaping American policy across the Middle East.

very good analysis.. I agree with the core takeaway that regulation isn't the remedy when that are so many private interests (billionaires) who put their interests first even if they be antithetical to the wellbeing of the nation..

It does leave you with a certain sense of dread that this circus is just going to get more bizzare and add more fuel to the fire when it seems that the only two options are letting things continue as are or limiting privately owned media which would then just enpower the government, which is also in most countires politcally captured by billionaires...

I'm interested to see how these media manipulation trends evolve into the 'podcast era' like they did when most people transitioned from broadcast to cable..

The situation in France is hectic.. I think a lot of these 'new age journalists' use 'investigations' because they think it adds a thin veil of legitimacy to their propaganda (candace owens)

It would be hard to measure it's power over time like other entities, but Trump is probably the presidential embodiment of the idea of 'US paramouncy' over everyone and I think there are a lot of desperate moves being made to ensure US supremacy at least over as much of the world, particularly the west, with the rise of China and some nations to flock to her orbit instead

that is the argument and its more direct than you would think, Limbaughs provocative broadcast format was quite experimental after the fairness doctrine was repealed but it was a smash hit, so much so that roger ailes used it as his own template for Fox.. which was then copied by MSNBC.. so i believe it's a domino effect rather than a direct A leads to B
