Digital butterflies - Oliver wells
Yes, you basically restated my point, I'm not really disagreeing, but saying there aren't any clients isn't really the case either.
There are plenty of XMPP clients out there that work great... finding one that supports all the features you actually care about...now that's the hard part. XMPP has too many opt in extensions and it's very hit and miss with clients
Technically you're referring to the web
Don't need to tell me twice
Because sometimes you don't have a choice, you can only do what you suggest it there's enough free swap to do so. Otherwise you have to kill processes.
Bruh, I literally said C is faster and that there are different tools for different jobs, I am convinced you're either trolling or cannot read, either way, you are right, this is pointless
Funny, I thought the same about your comment. Your original complaint was that java lacks unsigned ints, given that's what you said, that's what I thought we were talking about
We're not comparing to C, we're comparing to a theoretical java that has primitive unsigned ints since that was your original complaint. Ofc C is faster, java is faster to write than C though. I write both, there are different tools for different jobs
It's been 4 since your welfare check, I'm going with a definitive maybe
Other than size of the keys there's nothing wrong with it. Still plenty secure (from classical attacks)
Eh, if you use the API, I just go up a size and use bitwise operators, the JIT is fast enough that it's usually not a problem. Definitely not 100x slower
🤔 I do believe this is backwards, or you're Japanese
I have written a lot of code that would benefit from primitive unsigned ints...and while it is a little more work to do it java's way, it's definitely not a horrid mess
That's ok, I have enough RAM that I'm not particularly worried about that either. I also don't leave my computer on all night, I like to be nice to my tech, also locks my drives
Lol, I stopped swapping when I got enough RAM to never need swap
Porting Hurd to RISC-V??? Why? Last I knew they hadn't added amd64 or UEFI support, adding a whole other ISA seems a little over ambitious for that project if you ask me
I may actually be the other way around. I'm probably better at networking than programming? Not sure, I love them both but do neither professionally.
I've wanted to move elsewhere for a long time, thing is I don't use nano for programming, I use it for config files. For programming I use an IDE, and every time I've tried leaving my IDE for emacs with a language server I find I just can't be bothered to set it up and learn it and make the move. Maybe because while I have some gripes with my current setup...they're very minor
I guess it's good they're dog fooding it?...I think?
