Public traded companies are short sighted because they give the CEO et al large amounts of stock, making them stock holders, aligning their interests with making the stock go up.
Not really no. While it's a fun story, there are open source models that are about 6 months behind the frontier models. OTOH, if they pass the legislation to "prevent dangerous models in the wild" I'm sure those models will be shutdown, at which point they can start charging cartel prices. Assuming the AI companies don't become like the airlines: a cut throat business with almost zero margin, where all the value is taken by the consumers.
I don’t know what thought is, but I’m quite unconvinced that LLMs (or any current generative AI architecture) is doing it.
Okay, why not? I also don't know what thought is, so I don't think it's possible to say if an LLM is or is not doing it. And giving wrong or incoherent answers doesn't invalidate it as thought or your local stoner buddy would be considered brain dead.
Watched a buddy's Tesla categorize my car + trailer as a car, car + trailer, and then a semi and back again every few seconds. Both cars were parked....
The bigger issue, IMHO, was that this was promised as a finished product, not a research project or an investment.
Elon Musk is the Edison of the current age.
Prevents a special election where Thomas Massie could win, making a huge stink for Trump, who had him primaried.
I don't want to protect my children. CHECKMATE TECHBROS!!!!!!
It's okay, I live in Ohio and we work like this, but instead of asking what you do we ask which high school you went to, and what you think about
Bingo, but that's not what the legal paper work says.
Too late, already happened. It's the reason why Ireland is the home for such notable Irish tech companies as Google, MSFT, Amazon, Meta, and others.
Exactly. With a broad enough term those computerized screens showing the position of all the planes is "AI".
