This guy, looking out at the second blast
Hyperion (and by extension Fall of Hyperion) are fantastic and amazing. Its sequels Endymion and Rise of Endymion are a slog that seem to not be worth the time or effort to read.
Blame Spez for being a sellout
Last I tried, BSD didn't like the WiFi on my laptop, so it's currently a no-go for me.
Gonna survive on Linux for now, but at least I know I have a potential refuge elsewhere.
Because it's not.
Obvious joke out of the way, I know PS is quite powerful, especially for basically having a bunch of Unix core utils basically built into one program, but I just cannot wrap NY brain around it. I understand it has a verb-noun structure, but feel like I can get more done in Bash than I ever will be able to in PS (I'm terrible at Bash).
This part about halfway in really stuck with me
But suddenly, I notice something. She has stopped love bombing, her tone professionalized, even robotic.
I scroll back through our chat. What happened?
It’s like when you turn off your screen and see your own pinched face in the blackness. With cold shock, I realize: it was me.
When I minimized the window and hid her little face, unconsciously, I cut out my pleasantries, my “haha”s, my dancing around. And she did too. She had only been reacting to me.
Humans read so much into things that match their energy. There's a whole life hack about how you can get people to like you by simply mimicking their movements, and it seems like the AI companion companies are using that to gaslight their users for the detriment of everyone.
Boy, I'm so glad we're destroying the economy and the planet in order to gaslight half the population
There's a joke that could be made about how the first Moab was born of incest just like the last known MOAB, but I'm not clever enough to come up with it.

Oh good, like Stoat before it. And Element before it. And Matrix before it. And XMPP before it...
A few different effects that culminate into a large perception. This is all opinion, so prepend every sentence here with "I think" or "in my opinion".
Most popular anime are high school themed. There certainly are anime with adults, but the majority is high school or younger.
Kids are cute. Young men growing into adulthood are in that weird metamorphosis phase where they used to be cute and could be silly without repercussions and now have to start fitting into the societal gender role that tells then they have to start taking things seriously. Online, no one knows you're a dog [meme drop]. They can hide behind a cute girl avatar and be silly.
So why not adults? See point 1. But also, humans tend to be in their prime around 18. I'm in my 30s, but wish I had some of the features I had when I was a teenager.
Dysphoria from a time you know: most people posting online are teenage or older. Their dysphoria is going to come from times they had the most free time: usually as a teenager before they had work and responsibilities. They don't know what it's like to be an adult yet, so they relate more to the teenage characters. School is ubiquitous, salary work less so.
In short, the actual answer likely lies somewhere in these few points, and will be a different mix for everyone. Some guys might have it for creepy reasons, but in the vast majority of cases it's because they feel a connection to the character, who happens to be a high school girl.
Crystal is a general-purpose, object-oriented programming language. With syntax inspired by Ruby, it’s a compiled language with static type-checking. Types are resolved by an advanced type inference algorithm.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference? What would be the reason to choose Crystal over Ruby?
It's DSL (Damn Small Linux). I've played with it in the past, but I've found Antix or MX Linux to be easier to get up and going with unless you're super strapped for storage space.
