I’d bet dollars to donuts you could trace horseback riding recurring throughout the series to DeForest Kelley. DeForest was a well established actor in the Western genre before his role in Star Trek. And at a certain point he was getting screwed on the royalties of the Star Trek films, so William and Leonard pushed to get him a producer credit on the next film. That film also had a camping in wilderness tribute to DeForest at the beginning. I think the first horse scenes were Kirk and then Kirk and Picard.

They were a level of horny above what Violet posts and a level of crude below what SwiftysHemmys posts. So they’re not wrong if they’re curating a particular vibe. Modding is mostly a thankless job and if I was that offended I could just start my own community.

I think that’s the first reply I’ve seen with an actual action item and not just diverting from actual criticisms of the “don’t vote” mentality. The revolution doesn’t have to be violence. A cultural revolution can also affect change. Dr. King’s civil rights movement was famously non-violent.

My point is the nay-sayers here say “don’t vote”, but offer no alternatives.

You say join a union? I say hell yeah, sign me up! Can I join yours?

I’m envious of the way the French protest their government. They’re literally setting things on fire because their schools aren’t adequate. Because the government tried to raise the retirement age. Because their politicians are shitbags.

I think the biggest obstacle to organizing in the US is the sheer distance. It takes 40 solid hours of driving to get from one side to the other. That’s not counting any breaks. France takes about 14 hours. Doable in a day or so if you push it.

Anyway, I’d sign up for a Revolution if there was a serious contender.

If the original movement in the 70s was in response to political stagnation in the UK and the Vietnam war in the US. And the revival in the 00s in response to the US wars in the Middle East. Between Black Lives Matters, No Kings protests, and far right political parties recent win across the globe, where is the Punk movement? Where is the disenfranchised youth grinding out their anger on an electric guitar in an abandoned industrial building?

Edit: Thank you to everyone who suggested various artists. I’m going to check them all out!

This thought came about during a conversation with my best friend. He’s going through a hard time and we were reaffirming the deep connection between us. I said, “you know I’d do anything for you”, and he said, “well I wouldn’t help you bury a body.”

It made me think I wouldn’t want you to help me bury a body. If I’m trying to hide such a grievous crime, I would want you to keep me from doing more harm and probably psychiatric help.

The drain pump shorted out, a common problem on this model. Replaced that.

The short blew the ACST (a kind of a switch) on the main board, a common problem on this model. Replaced that.

The damage was more extensive on main board than I’d hoped, an additional relay is probably bad and an unknown number of other components. Replaced that.

The new main board fails to communicate with the inverter board, a common problem on this model.

I’m going to borrow a DMM to troubleshoot, but at this point I’m stuck between dumping more money into it, or returning both the new main board and the drain pump which have not seen action yet, and just buying a new washer.
