I got there and Mama Cat immediately took me to her baby. She then kept trying to give me her baby and when I kept putting it back in the safe, warm cardboard box, she'd go put it somewhere unsafe and cold. She obviously wasn't moving it to a different nest. She was obviously starting to reject the thing. The lil baby got hungry at one point and started screaming and mama cat put it in the middle of the parking lot and went and laid down on a chair. I put the baby with her and it got to eat and Mama Cat moved it to the box again eventually. I'm hoping she doesn't abandon it. If she does, I'm going to offer to raise it. I've bottle fed and raised dozens of kittens, so I know what I'm doing in that regard.

She was giving me attitude yesterday because I hadn't come out to see her in a couple weeks.

My dogs got into a neurotoxin andy beagle died horribly and my other dog survived but was in the animal hospital for a few days and is still recovering. She should be fine with time. My grief for my beagle is so bad that I had to take short term disability from work to get my mental health handled. I had to call a crisis line twice Wednesday night because I was completely breaking down.

I'm going to be visiting Sandy as I recover, but my surviving dog, Rosie, is a priority. We are staying with my parents until the vet gives her the all clear and she doesn't know her brother isn't waiting for her at home. She's going to need me when she starts to grieve.

Here's a pic of my girl. She was watching the news in that pic.

She'll only take her meds if they're in hotdogs. She also gets rice cooked in the hotdog water with scrambled eggs. It was my mom's idea lol.

She started playing today. Only for a couple mins at a time, but it's awesome.

My grief for Radar, her brother, is almost consuming me, but having her survive miraculously is making it easier. Sleep at night is difficult because Radar and I would cuddle all night. Not having his presence there is so hard and Rosie is not a cuddler. I'll get through it though. It's just going to take a long time.

She somehow survived near brain-death from a neurotoxin. She was blinded from a 107 degree fever but regained her sight. She's not going to have any long-term issues from this whole ordeal. She seized for almost an hour on Sunday night along with the fever.

So glad she made it. Her brother didn't, unfortunately. He seized for four hours and the vets couldn't get it to stop. We had to put him to sleep. He went peacefully and wasn't in pain or distress in the end

When we got home after Radar passed, Rosie ran the yard looking for him and she started having tremors. We thought she was just trembling from being upset, but then the gait issues started. When we left her in the care of the animal hospital early this morning for an admitted stay, she was very much aware of me and wanted nothing more than to lick my face and be held. She went from essentially braindead to that with the treatment the doctors did. She seems to be there cognitively, it's just that she has some sight issues now.

We believe that they got into rat poison of some kind. I don't use it, but I have many neighbors who don't have pets. I don't think it was malicious or anything, either. I think it was just a freak thing. Rosie and my cat will not be going back to my place, and we may be making my move to a new house sooner than intended.

Chickpea is such a sweetie and I hope someone adopts her. I'm not in a state to, unfortunately. I have to pretty up my home to sell in the spring. My foundation damage isn't going to be covered by insurance, so I'm hoping that a flipper will see the potential of the property or a family could use it as a starter home or something. I just need to break even so I can buy my father's home when he and his wife retire and hit the road in an RV. The whole thing has me crazy stressed and devastated, but it's going to work out. It has to. Idk what I'll do if I don't, esp becausey physical disabilities are getting worse and my home is not single floor living, which I will most likely need within the next 5-10 years.

Anywaaaaaay, Soup Squad gained members and these lil guys give me so much dopamine when I see them. I think a lot of the barn critters, some horses included, can tell I'm in a bad place mentally and are being super sweet and cute and fun on purpose to make me feel better.
