I know the midterm election has us all a bit on edge in the US, myself included. I just want calm and peace for all, and I've been struggling to know what to do to do what's best for everyone. Sometimes the metaphor I share something that doesn't fit great or there's a chance someone could take it the wrong way, doesn't mean you have to go and do anything silly like jump into a river.

I need to let go of the fear of my secret. I went in the river in Bridgewater to chase away a demon. Unfortunately the river was partially frozen, and it was the middle of the night, and it was very cold. I tried to prepare myself and screamed, "I'm not ready!" and then dove in after it. It fled across the river, and I looked to where it went and realized there was no demon at all. Just a marsh and a forest of darkness in the distance. So I turned around and swam back to shore.

But I swam against the current and ended up further along the bank. There was 10 or 15 feet of partially frozen water there. Maybe an inch thick. If I tried to go over it I would have gotten cut up and I might not have been able make my way through with no solid ground to stand on.

So I went under. I swam under the ice, back to shore, and I got as close as I could. Then I put my feet down and broke through the layer of ice. I crawled the rest of the way out of the river and through the brush but I was horribly injured and hypothermic.

I feel like the whole affair was terribly irresponsible of me, but I don't know any way I could have avoided it.

I found some plastic wrap that must have had something to do with the cornfield I was next to. I wrapped it around me, and I laid under a hollowed out log, and I grabbed leaves and straw and tried to insulate myself.

I kinda fell asleep. It felt like I died and went to hell, and that's what I thought had happened. I didn't really die, I just had that one moment of fear that woke me back up before the end. So I jumped to my feet and I grabbed a stick to steady me and I trudged my way across the field shouting for an ambulance. I was so confused and scared, but I survived because some friendly people made the call for me.

And that's why I started my project. Someone over there showed me an act of kindness despite my mental battles. Several someones in fact.

Apparently I'm a humanitarian. I believe in the well-being of all people, even if they've made mistakes, as long as they make amends in a way that is acceptable to the rest of us. That's it, that's my belief system.

I also wasn't entirely aware of what was happening to me as it happened. I knew I was on my way somewhere but I thought that was Missouri because of some silly paper.

When I say I "chased a demon into a river," the demon I'm referring to is my fear, I'm not trying to say I heroically chased it off. Once I saw the reality of what was waiting for me across the river there was no question that I had to turn back if I was going to survive.

    Thanks for the great comment.

The main difference between Apoidea and other ERP software is that it reinforces the cooperative model, specifically if you go into the main menu under General Conference, you'll see spaces carved out for "Issues" and "Votes". Typical ERP software like Odoo is only intended as a tool for management, not as a general tool for worker-owners to make decisions.

The software will not reinforce the Strategic Union model specifically, but it will allow for it. However, there's nothing stopping someone from using the software for a traditional co-op with any shareholder restrictions or model they like. Additionally, you don't need to put in a management hierarchy. For some applications, such as agricultural co-ops, there seems to be a significant body of research that shows they perform just fine without the hierarchy.

I have thought a lot about Mondragon, and in fact the best example from them I can find is Mondragon Assembly. They are led by a CEO, which is unusual for co-ops, but I don't have any other information about their management structure. They seem to have about 1000 members, and they make assembly line equipment for hi-tech manufacturing like solar panels. They are the best example I know of to show what co-ops are capable of, and my hope would be that a Strategic Union might one day be their customer.

If anyone has more info about Mondragon I'm all ears.

    Hello folks,

You may remember some posts a while back about my concept for “Strategic Unions”, a type of worker cooperative that utilizes a hierarchical management structure for productive work, hopefully allowing some co-ops to grow into the larger, industrialized enterprises that a modern economy needs.

However, because the management model prioritizes worker-owner well-being and equity over profits, there will hopefully be a tendency toward socially and ecologically beneficial production projects.

To implement this management model I’ve got a repository and a project homepage at https://apoideaerp.org/.

Pages with content include the Homepage, Dashboard, Settings, Documents, and everything in the footer. The Terms of Use are short, as plain as I could make them, and include a glossary that can be helpful when reading the rest of the content.

Right now I’m hoping to start raising some donations so that I can pay others (you?) to help me with the development effort, and that can include outreach efforts. I’ll be updating the matrix chat periodically with fundraising records, and I won’t be paying myself unless the project starts to take on a significant amount of money.

    Menu Fully Expanded

    Menu Fully Collapsed

Big project update today, as we officially have a front-end set up for the app. Please check this thread for an introduction to the project. (lemmy.world crosspost)

    Technical Info
It's running tailwind v4 as a watch service in it's own container, which I'm excited about because I've never experienced how convenient it makes development.

The UI items are DaisyUI, and the charts are from ApexCharts. The icons are HeroIcons. Of course, there will be a attribution page in the software for all the assets and packages that are used.

    Sidebar
Very excited with the behavior of the sidebar menu so far. It has single-link items as well as group items. You can expand the groups individually and the sidebar will partially open to accommodate the sub-item names (Timeclock, Actions, etc). Or you can hit the toggle at the top to fully open it and reveal the item header names (i.e Dahsboard, My Items, etc.).

If you toggle the menu closed it will collapse down to the second picture shown above, including closing any open groups.

If the menu is partially expanded to accommodate open groups, and you close the last group, the javascript event listener will detect that and fully collapse the menu.

    Themes
I will post the different themes I have so far as comments. Please vote for your favorite!

You can make me a theme to test at the daisyUI website here: DauisyUI Theme Generator.

When it looks the way you want, click on the black 'CSS' button at the top and copy/paste the code block into a comment here so I can respond with a screenshot of your theme on the dashboard.

Anyway thanks for checking out the post! Cheers!

This is basically MKUltra being used by the corpos. These techniques, when practiced by paid intelligence operatives, I think generally involve manipulation in the real world in addition to internet stalking.

For example, going into someone’s home when they’re going to be gone for a while and moving things around. Something seemingly innocuous like an item being in an unusual or suggestive place can invoke a fear response in the target if it remains unexplained or is followed by additional incidents.

This could be coupled with targeted information placed in public in places the target is likely to frequent, such as their commute to work.

Targets are discouraged from talking about the incidents by stigma surrounding mental health, and if they get targeted enough it will become difficult for them to distinguish the actual attacks from regular information floating about.

1.4 Mission Statement The mission of the company is the well-being of all people. To accomplish this goal we will operate business ventures designed to generate income through which we can secure our own well-being and consequently become empowered to help others.

Today we are witnessing the spectacular failure of Capitalism to provide for the needs of this planet and the people on it. In previous eras of class instability, the focus was often on the bifurcation between those who wish to dominate, and those who wish for a world without domination. While the ideals of a world free of domination are admirable, its proponents face the cold reality that those who specialize in domination are able to accumulate more power than those who do not seek it.

This need to dominate is typically associated with hierarchical organizations, and for good reason as they are the mechanism that allows individuals to accumulate unconstrained executive power. However, rather than trying to dismantle hierarchical systems, our collective recognizes them as an essential tool for problem-solving and productivity. We intend to capture and incorporate hierarchical management into large, democratically owned and managed cooperatives called “Strategic Unions”. This will enable organizations with similar power compared to today’s capitalist corporations, but with social equity and Article 1.4 as their most fundamental goals.

The plan is to deploy open-source Enterprise Resource Planning software to coordinate the efforts and voting that will take place in the co-op. You then recruit like-minded workers from your area to join your server and begin organizing and holding elections. At this point, workers in your cooperative will put forward business plans and become candidates for CEO. The members vote based on the candidate and the business plan, and the person who wins is not a dictator. They are a mandated agent of the co-op, and they are removable by vote. Their job is to coordinate the business project according to their plan in order to generate revenue.

After elections, you incorporate as a Strategic Union, which means filing Articles of Incorporation as a C-corporation in your state. You will then have bargaining power in your area based on the size and specialization of your workforce. You can use the Master Staffing Agreement template to negotiate labor contracts with local businesses. Your co-op members are hired out full time, so the member-worker gets a paycheck in a similar arrangement to a staffing or temp agency. The co-op gets paid by the hour and the amount left over after paying the worker (the margin) funds the CEO’s business plan. This allows for funded without capitalist investors. It’s a “bootstrapping” process, meaning the first business plan is self-starting. Once the staffing contracts are no longer needed, they are dropped.

Following this plan, you don’t have to work at the same business to organize a union. You set up your server and organize with whomever you like.

We are asking you to take on Article 1.4 as your personal mission and join our efforts. Or, we could ride the crapitalism train to wherever it may be headed. Your choice my friends.
